Just downloaded this and am quite pleased with it. There are three types of fires in the settings to choose from and they are NOT animated. You get real flames, real logs and real surrounds. Heck,..you can even see some of the hot red embers and sparks. I like the setting called the,..'Relaxing Slow Fireplace' with it's gentle flames along with the gentle crackling of the burning logs. You can choose to play music from you music library instead if you want. I haven't noticed any transition as it loops around or any kind of stuttering. I connected my iPad(2) directly to my 32 inch LED TV, (Don't Have Apple TV), using an HDMI and watched it on the big screen. Just one thing here though, It's not 16.9,..just a mirror image of the 4.3 image on the iPad so you will get black bars either side. That's not a gripe though. The App plays in both Landscape and Portrait mode. Actually, it's playing now on my iPad beside me as I type this review,..nice and relaxing,..especially if you turn the lights down low. Enjoy.

Amazing!
I used this app with Apple TV and sent it to the TV in the living room, it heated the room in a matter of minutes! So pleased! For the price of half a pint of beer you can heat your entire home with these real life fireplaces! Just remember not to touch the screen when it's on as you may burn your fingers!
