Description

Brought to you by Fitocracy, Mashable's 'Top Innovation in Health & Fitness' winner, 'Macros' is a super-simple macro and calorie counter for people who are tracking their macronutrients (macros for short) to help them reach their fitness goals, whether that's losing weight, or building lean muscle.

Why count macros instead of just counting calories?
When most people embark on a diet, they only count calories, not macros. This often leaves people prone to many of the typical side effects of dieting – feeling hungry, lacking energy, and being irritable. Targeting macronutrients allows you to counteract these side effects. With the right macros, you can remain full all day, stay energetic, and build lean muscle to give you that 'toned' look.

One member of Fitocracy’s 'Weight Loss Made Simple' Fitocracy Group Fitness program said, “This new way of dieting was life changing. I lost 10 lbs, all while remaining incredibly full – sometimes too full. My energy was sky high and I will never go back to pure calorie counting again.”

Does what it needs to do, and not overly complicated

Great little app. Options to either let the app calculate your macro intake, or allows you to do it yourself if you want to fine tune your diet.

Easy and simple to use. No clutter and does what I need it to do really well (track macros), without the clutter. I’ve been using for some time now and swear by it.

Reason for 4 stars is 2 little things. Developers please take note.

1. Macro tracking to 1 decimal point. At the moment I have to round up and down to the nearest gram adding inaccuracy throughout the day.
2. Saved list is brilliant. I use every day, but so frustrating that you can’t edit items in the list, nor drag & drop to re-order the list

BEST MACRO TRACKER OUT THERE!

I don't usually go out of my way to do reviews, but this app is PERFECT!
I've downloaded EVERY app that claims to do the same thing and this is by far the best out there (I have nooo ideaaa what the other reviews are going on about!?)

Anyway, you can log and save the nutritional info of foods you eat on a regular basis and just click on them as and when you eat them, it will then deduct the amount of calories in your chosen meal from your daily calorie total. Great app for those looking to track their intake when bulking or cutting. Fully deserves 5 stars. Great app.

Without connectivity to Fitocracy, what's the point?

Okay either I'm being stupid or you can't connect this app to your fitocracy account. Doesn't that make this app completely pointless? Surely it would work far better if activity was cross referenced with calorie intake to tell you say your net weight loss that day, week, or month?

The questionnaire to get into this is far too simple - for example, what if I do both cardio and weights? You can't combine activities which is a real shame.

However the basic idea of the app is brilliant and a really powerful tool for weightloss or muscle building - just wish it was more versatile!
