Welcome to the brand new FixMyStreet app.
In this update we have completely rebuilt the app to add lots more functionality, including:
- Leave updates on existing reports
- Set up local alerts for new reports
- Browse all existing reports without leaving the app
- View individual street lights/grit bins/drains and log reports against them (location dependent)
Ratings and Reviews
Pretty good
5 stars for the app to report problems but they need to be manually removed once sorted by the relevant parties so often checking local area gives age old reports as the person reported hasn’t updated when fixed.
Also I sent a problem about a damaged tree and neither the location or picture was passed to the parks dept meaning they had to waste their and my time contacting me for info I had already given.
Hence reduced stars.
Excellent App; so easy and effective to use
I have used this app for at least three years and it is not only incredibly easy to use but also very quick. It identifies location, takes photographs and you can select the title and describe the problem.
You can report a pothole, a damaged footpath, non-working lights: eg at zebra crossings, in fact almost anything that councils have responsibility for. The app informs the relevant council anywhere in the UK and you get quick and regular updates on progress. Truly a tremendously useful app.
Frustrating waste of Time
Really thought this app was a saviour and it worked for a while, but has a major problem.
Half of my reports do not retain the location info when using the app.
I have just spent the best part of an hour on my regular walk stopping to report pot holes. I am offline obviously, but I always hit update my location to get the correct geolocation of the pot hole, then take a few photos, give it a title and then Hit Save Draft.
When I get home back online, when I go to upload my reports I see that the draft reports have all got my home location down on the map!! What is the flipping point of that, which has just wiped out the entire efforts of reporting.
Why doesn’t the app save the geolocation when you save the report as a draft? Not rocket science is it?
Don’t know if I will bother wasting any more time with it until the devs look at this flaw, as it’s basically useless as it is.
