FlacBox

This app is great for iPhone users if they have a laptop/PC and lots of music to transfer using the WI-FI transfer option as so far it’s been flawless. The equaliser can accommodate many custom settings that are quick to access for different headphones and/or genre’s of music. There is plenty of settings and options in general that make this app shine brighter than anything else I have tried over the years for iPhone and I couldn’t be happier finding it. One thing that I would like though to make it perfect for me is to be able to have a loudness level setting to level out all songs to a similar ( preferably same ) volume to save having to raise and lover the volume. This is an issue because of the loudness wars plus different sources of master volume settings across all music and not the fault of FlacBox, it would just be great to have a way of getting around this issue that drives many people crazy. I purchased this app because I want to support the developers and would be happy to purchase more extra features that would take this app to the far and beyond. Thank you FLacBox Creators ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I like it but...

It still crashes pretty frequently.
But the absolutely, bone-crushingly, life-sappingly worst thing about this app is when you want to add songs from your NAS to be stored on your phone. If you have a large library and want to add a song by, say, Yazoo or ZZ Top, you have to scroll through the hundreds of artistes who come before in the alphabetical list. There’s no quick way to jump to a particular letter as there is in iTunes. And then - this makes me want to cry with frustration - the app jumps back to the music list. You can’t stay within the Yazoo folder and choose songs from a second album - no - you have to go through the whole scrolling rigmarole again. Aaarghhhh! Sort it out, guys.

Frustrating but promising?

Shows much promise but fails drastically for me as using as an SMB front end. I’ve only found this and Music Streamer that are in the area I want, both have inadequacies.

1. Scan time is just out of this world ridiculous, it’s like it uses carrier pigeons. MS takes about 20 minutes to scan the folder that this presumably would take several days, I haven’t had the patience to find out yet.

2. My Flac/MP3 collection includes all of the artwork in the folders or embedded. This app ignores that and goes to the internet to find the wrong images 30-40% of the time. There is no way of updating the image yourself so you are supposed to just put up with an ambient album that has a picture of a rap artist... MS deals with this almost perfectly, using the folder images and has the ability to copy/paste an image when needed.

3. It doesn’t seem to pick up the album/artist tags correctly all of the time, but maybe it’s because I haven’t had a scan complete.

Outside of these major problems, I really like the look of it and the play behaviour which certainly wins over MS which also has it’s own bizarre usability choices. I will keep an eye on this in the hope it will be improved, but in the meantime MS wins my loyalty. Wrong artwork is far far far worse than none at all...
