Flip Clock - McClockface 4+

Love this app for adding customisation to my Home Screen! I’ve tried a few of the popular free ones and this blows them out the water. It’s super clean, fairly decent customising options and widget looks great. Animations are also super smooth in the app! I’ve got this set up on a personal automation too, so when I put my phone down to charge with the screen unlocked it opens this app and it sits like a little digital clock ticking away at my desk.

A few updates I’d love to see:
1. Option to set weekdays to start with a Monday rather or a Sunday, for people outside the US!
2. Able to add a smaller clock widget, like the little quarter size one, the only size that isn’t available.
3. Able to make the actual clock in the app different sizes, like being able to control the font size or something.
4. Transparent widget! Remove the background box and just have the little boxes that hold the numbers. That would be amazing!

All in all, definitely worth it! ✨

I have 2 widgets on my phone, one stays 3 days behind real time and date. The other is always blank, shows no information at all. Opening the app makes all items show correctly but on closing it the widgets stay in their incorrect setting!
UPDATE:- The developer responded quickly and problem now solved, happy now.

Hello, thanks for bringing this to my attention, and apologies for the problem.

Best thing to do here is delete the widgets from the Home Screen, restart your iPhone, and then add the widgets back again from the widget gallery.

Sorry for the inconvenience – sometimes the widgets get stuck, especially after app updates, and they need to be refreshed this way.

Open the app on an iPhone and you see the flip clock in the vertical - time (including the seconds), date, days of the week. A good advert for the widget capabilities. Except I find it impossible to get the seconds to display in a widget, let alone the date and days of the week. Have tried a multiplicity of settings to no avail. Apparently the difference between the app and the widget is a limitation of what widgets can do, hence no seconds flipping. Nice widget, lots of options though.

Hi David, firstly thanks for downloading the app.

Unfortunately, the capabilities of widgets are somewhat limited, and what’s possible in the app itself is not always possible in widgets. As per Apple guidelines, “widgets are not mini apps,” and animations in widgets are simply a no-go (thus no second flip animation is included in the widgets).

As for getting the date, most McClockface widgets include that information, but there are a few without simply because of space restrictions. If you scroll through all the widget options in the gallery you’ll find “Annual Progress,” for example, which shows the date and weekday just as it is displayed inside the app.
