Why let folks with design degrees have all the fun with GIFs? Whether you got top grades in art or never advanced past stick figures, this intuitive tool lets you animate your doodles and share them both in-app and beyond. Whenever we felt stuck, we checked out our fellow users’ work for a creative spark.
Hands down brilliant.
Folioscope and it’s community is one of the best things that’s ever happened to me. On the animation side of things, it is BRILLIANT. It has a very simple interface which makes it great for beginners and pros alike. Although at first glance it might seem that you have only 6 colours, if you use dithering you can get hundreds. The slightly pixelated image of it can sometimes be annoying, but most of the time it’s just useful for detailed small drawings, super smooth animations, and pixel art. The only thing I would change would be the selection tool- I would like it to have better rotation capabilities. After you are finished you can save your animation as a gif with either a transparent or solid background (can be changed in settings), a video file, or as a printable pdf flipbook, OR you can upload it to the Folio community! The community is the most supporting and amazing hung I’ve ever been part of. There’s always animation challenges and official contests floating around and everyone’s so kind. The best animations are featured by the devs, quite an honour!

So much fun!
I spend way too much time on this game! It’s so creative, and when you can’t think of any more things to animate, you can go and see other people’s animations! When you post your own, it’s lovely to get feedback and see how you can improve, and work towards what most see as one of the ultimate goals: to be featured... Though none of mine have been featured yet, I can tell I am improving a lot, and this has seriously helped my art skills. Though the colours are limited, this sparks creativity and also makes it far easier to redraw each frame. Your colours aren’t limited to just 6 anyway: you can use dithering to create literally any colour you want. Additionally, the developers have accounts, so you can talk to them and find out about new updates etc....
