Great for practicing font creation
I’ve been using the Mac version of Fontself since it’s beta version. It’s really allowed me to experiment with type in an easy and creative way, without having to work out all the behind the scenes work that used to be needed to create type. I can only see this iPad version going from strength to strength based on how much effort and time has been put into the desktop version.
The team behind it are incredibly helpful, always reply to questions, and when I was having problems with the original desktop version, went above and beyond to help. They genuinely have passion for what they do, can’t wait to see how this version develops!
Easy to understand and create professional looking fonts
Been playing around with the app for a few hours since I downloaded it. Really easy to figure out and interface is intuitive. Downloaded to create a font of my own handwriting for uni projects as I wanted it to look handwritten but uniform in size. Took like 15 minutes to create and import into Procreate. Payment is a one off fee rather than a subscription like lot of creative programmes. Definitely worth the £15 for the full app, but not necessary to enjoy
A bit of democratising type
Experimenting with designing typefaces is now a piece of cake with this app. Fontself for -sad and illustrator was already good and now it’s so easy to get over the technical barriers of typeface design.
I can draw, I can give other people the chance to draw type and then experiment in the real world.
Sure, Fontself can add language support and lots of features that make it even easier but for now this is just right.
