As a 48 year old man I have followed F1 for 38 years. Iv been able to watch every race and qualifying for the past 20 + years no matter where I am on the globe. As a Scot I have traveled from Fife to Silverstone for the past 8 years with my son for the full program ( Wednesday to Monday ) camping at lichlake farm, and enjoying every minute rain or shine. More rain apart from 2018 when we had the amazing sunshine for the duration. Not so good in a tent but hey it’s F1. My son and I have been lucky enough to have made many friends at lichlake which we now call our F1 family, who we meet, keep a pitch for every year. Yet now I find myself on holiday in America at the time of the up coming Japanese race, Liberty own F1 ( American company ) with the whole American whizz and bang fireworks and all y’all and we are struggling to view the race , P2 P3 and qualy. Please please please Liberty sort it out. This would never have been a problem under Bernys time.
Latest update has ruined it - zero stars. Do not buy.
I’ve subscribed to this (expensive) app for 4 years now, it started poorly but has been slowly improved. Always glitchy but give some great detail race data, especially the sector splits and ability to track a drivers progress and detail timings against everyone else. Screen could be custom sized to get all of the field onto a single screen if I wanted. Could even just about follow a race fully without the TV coverage. So all in all pretty good and while never worth the money at least gave me something I couldn’t get from the TV coverage.
Until now. The latest update -it m looks pretty but it is utterly utterly useless for anyone actually into F1 - Dear Liberty that is anyone willing to pay the over the odds price for the App in the first place. I wouldn’t even recommend this if it was free. No longer can I see intermediate splits, no longer can I see all the field on a screen. No longer all the cars locations on the circuit. No longer can I access the timing screens that are shown at the circuits. No split screen ability. No use whatsoever for a fan looking for race detail. Whoever released this is one coupon short of a pop-up toaster. Didn’t anyone think to consult the people who follow F1 and use this thing before such radical change?. Liberty media please get your act together and be quick about it. Hopeless.
2019 Season Update
The timing screen is improved....... That’s it. The MAP!! Oh the map, this is ridiculous when you select a driver the tiny tiny tiny circles very slightly enlarge it’s barely noticeable in fact I have to ridiculously analyse it to see which driver is which colour for on the map. The map it’s self is a massive DOWNGRADE from previous like the ones on the original F1 timing app. Either someone is very poor at there job or it’s cost saving. The map is not good I cannot use it or find a decent word to say about it. I used to like using split screen with a map that looked like a map of the circuit with driver tags like VET, RIC etc. I am furious with it so much I have unsubscribed again like last year. Why can’t they move in the direction of more detail and possibly satellite mapping so it almost looks like your peering down onto the track from the sky whilst it’s live. Not this no frills , unusable, time saving, cost saving rubbish effort. To finish my (#%*#) sandwich I will end on the positive note to say the timing screen is very good but I’m so angry about the map I don’t want to talk about it further.
If I used the bathtub method to write this review it would have been a very big bath.
