I have loved using Fotor, over the last four free days, for my book. Fotor can generate some amazing images all by itself, with a large variety of styles from what seems to be a vast database. You just write in the text box what you’re looking for, so searches are very dependent on making yourself clear (they give you tips). Then select the style your looking for.Save save save to avoid losing an image you really like, even if you not sure about it to begin with. I loved the way the saved images appeared on my phone and PC. You can upload images in a number of ways, so it’s very flexible. If you upload straight from your photos, Fotor will only save the amended image, so it’s often better to use the Fotor select button, within the app, which then connects to your photos and keeps the original image in the Fotor work page. Deselecting photos on your phone will remove those images from the Fotor gallery, so best to wait until you’re all done with your current project. I’ve manage to remove unwanted text from an image and use the AI art enhancer to change my rather basic artwork into awesome looking pictures (love the Monet and impressionist choices amongst others). Even diagrams can be tarted up to look more interesting than my versions using Word and PowerPoint. I’ve also used the super cut facility to extract items from the main body of the picture with variable results. It can take time to improve an image with all the utilities available; that’s where it gets addictive. I found the eraser didn’t work, which was a bit frustrating. There are so many facilities to explore. If only I had more time!Would love to pay for a yearly subscription…

Downloaded this app expecting to test the key features during the free trial, but was disappointed to find that most useful editing tools are locked behind the paywall. Not machine learning. Will sometimes change the appearance of loved ones

I hope it is using machine learning and pays attention to all the edits that I am rejecting. It would be so much better if it would learn my actual facial features before trying to guess when unblurring. I wish I could upload high quality example photos, and then, when it has learnt what I actually look like, it would do a better job of restoring old photos. It’s not great, but it’s is better than other AI tools I’ve used. Unfortunately, it doesn’t save any time because results are unpredictable or just plain wrong. I’m trying to restore old photos and enhance blurred faces of family members and friends. But the AI often adds teeth for no reason, changes eye colour, and changes the shape of facial features. Why change how someone smiles? It’s quite depressing that the AI has ‘decided’ to correct my face and my wife’s face by changing it. I guess it’s just inserting stock photos of lips and eyes. This is not what I expected from a tool that says ‘face unblur’ or ‘photo restore”. I don’t want to change my wife’s appearance or gender, and I don’t want to make her thinner. She is a size 8. Wy make her thinner? We were both part time models, so why do these photo AI apps think it’s OK to tell us we’re ugly by changing our appearance? However, as I said, Fotor is better than the rest, and sometimes results are OK… and if I overlay the modified photo onto the original, I can then delete the features that the AI messed up. The worst tools at the moment are the AI Resizer and Cartoonizers. This often completely distorts people’s facial features, but for strangers, or stock photos, I guess it’s OK. It’s also hard to navigate the app. It is always trying to encourage me to use different tools, it doesn’t remember most common tools I use, doesn’t open the last photo album I was in, and it is not consistent between desktop and mobile. Some tools are not available on different platforms. I can’t justify paying for this every month, but if it learnt what a face actually looks like before restoring, then it would be fantastic.
