Ratings and Reviews
Ok for casuals like me
Pretty easy to use once you work out the ‘touch and slide your finger’ menu interface, though that’s a bit of an odd choice and I would rather just tap to open the menu and tap on pause or whatever, because I keep forgetting and it splits, and I have to undo it.
One of the biggest things it needs to be functional though is to save your data as you progress, with the option to restart the timer from a specific time. Because of Apple force-closing apps that have been open in the background too long, it means if you pause the timer mid-run to pick it back up the next day, it will have wiped all your current run progress including your splits and time. Luckily I took screenshots because I didn’t trust it, but it still means I’m in the position of having to record the rest of my run as segments and then do the maths myself to find out my time later, or let the timer run for three hours to sync it back up.
No segments?
When it said unlock the pro version for unlimited games and categories, I thought you’d get the named segments for the run. But you just get the picture of the game and the ability to select a run category. You have to create and fill the information for the segments yourself. So I’ve ended up paying two pound just for the picture basically, and not having to name my run myself.
A great speedrun timer
This app really is excellent! Not only does it look great and intuitive but it’s incredibly well featured for a mobile app and is the only splitter I find myself using.
While the app provides the option to upgrade with an in app purchase, the features provided for free are more than enough if you only run one game. With the purchase you can add as many games as you want and even use your own custom icons, though the app already provides a few dozen cute icons to use for free.
You can export or import your runs, skip or undo splits (even if you finish the run!), set an offset to start time after you press start etc.
It’s also perfect for streaming, if you mirror your phone’s screen to your PC (the app provides a guide) then you can resize the screen size within the app to suit your needs.
Basically, an excellent splitter and well worth the payment.
