Description

From the award winning creators of Studycat for Schools, comes Fun Spanish! The #1 way for kids to learn español!

From preschool and beyond, Fun Spanish inspires children's innate love of learning with interactive games and activities.

Our bite-sized lessons will keep your child motivated while they discover a new language and build bilingual skills for a lifetime!

WHY STUDYCAT?

• Learn Spanish, in Spanish. All our activities focus on language immersion, which means your child won't be hearing any English. This might be confusing at first, but trust us, it's the best way to learn.

• Everyday Language. Our lessons teach words and expressions that kids can apply in their everyday lives, so they can get a head start developing their bilingual abilities.

• Get Talking Fast. With our interactive speaking challenges, kids will be encouraged to produce and speak entire words and phrases on their own! The earlier kids start their language-learning journey, the more likely they are to reach proficiency quickly.

• Vocal Variety. Our characters' voices use different tones, expressions, and accents so that kids can pick up on the subtleties of pronunciation from different speakers.

• Designed by Experts. All our activities are designed by language and early-education experts. Thoughtfully developed lessons will build your child's confidence with every step.

• Safe for Kids & Ad-Free. Parents can rest easy knowing that there are no pesky ads to distract children from their learning. All content is appropriate for ages 3 and up.

• Offline Learning. On a plane, at a restaurant, or in a park? No problem! Fun Spanish is available for both online and offline use.

Really engaging even for preschoolers

I think this app is really fun and a good way to teach children. I like the range of activities that work on different skills. I think it will really make an impact on recall of Spanish. I’m also really impressed that you’ve managed to include speaking activities. I think they work really well.
One thing I would say is that some of the games where you have to find the thing that is the right colour are a bit hard. For example one has a grid with pictures but you have to touch the blind in the room to get the colour grey. It’s guess it’s ok to get children to think outside of the box but they will find this tricky especially as you don’t necessarily associate grey with a blind. Other items like the red heart and the orange basketball make a bit more sense.
I would also say that the part where you have to draw a picture after practicing the letters is hard. It’s usually the bit where the phone gets handed back to me and I also find it hard to do. Could it be done with clearer lines the way the letters are first modelled? The near invisible dots are hard to follow as in following them your fingers mask them so there’s a lot of guesswork involved.

Good, but why change it?

I’ve had this app for my daughter for years, she’s now six

Just updated the app and been playing only to find that the card game to learn the colours has had two of the more difficult levels removed so that it’s now over in seconds and is stupidly easy.

This used to be a great game because it taught both process of elimination in making pairs of colours alongside teaching the Spanish word. Why on earth change it?

Developer Response ,

Thank you very much for your feedback and for subscribing to Fun Spanish! The reason we have simplified the game is that our app addresses a wide range of younger learners, some as young as two years old! When we play-tested with younger kids we found they had lots of trouble when we introduced more than 8 cards. Also, we have now structured the course so that each game must be played before moving on to the next (although you can switch this off in the Parents area). With this, it’s vital that no child gets stuck on that very first game. Hence, reduction to two levels.
We are currently looking at ways to set difficulty level for different age groups, and this feedback is very useful for us. Thank you. If you have more commentary on other games we would be delighted to talk to you about this. Please write to us at help@studycat.com if you are interested.

Hi again

You said in my last review you were wondering what Oscars favourite game is. His favourite is matching the words with the different ways of saying it in Chinese. His fav language is of course, Chinese. Btw just to let you know I’m 11 years old and Oscar is 6 years old.

Developer Response ,

Wow! Thanks so much for your review. We're really happy that you and Oscar are having fun learning. We'd love to hear what Oscar's favorite game is. If you ever have questions, email us at help@studycat.com. Thanks again and have an awesome day!
