Galaxy on Fire 2™ HD 12+

Thanks for fixing the problems from previous update, see my earlier comments below. UI has now returned controls to original size. In addition configure button in control options, allows both left and right controls to be slid vertically on screen to a comfortable position for your device - great idea ! I also see that iCloud game saving option now works, though even non-iCloud saves were not deleted on this recent fix, so I don’t know why they were lost on the previous update. Now I can go back to giving this game the 5 stars it richly deserves as the best Elite style space trading/pirating/fighting game on iPad. The freedom to explore/trade/pirate and fly anywhere outside of the main story line make GOF2 much better than GOF3 and seem much less of a grind.

“The update deleted all my saved games so I am having to start from scratch. I am not on iCloud so perhaps that is why though other my other games don’t suffer this fate on updating. The new controls are much smaller and pushed to the bottom corners. They over did the reduction in size making them more fiddly to use and having them scrunched into the corners makes it harder to hold iPad and play. It is still playable with these controls, but they really overdid it for play on an iPad. I would have given 5 stars, but deleting all saved games on an update is really bad, as it means a lot of hours lost on this game. Shame.”

What a masterpiece! GOF2 HD is a real console quality, 'sandbox' style game for iOS. You are not restricted to following the story line missions, but instead can deviate at any time to pick up side missions, battle space pirates, or just go and rack up a few million credits through a bit of clever commodity trading. This increases the potential lifespan of the game by tens of hours compared to how long the story mode takes to complete. I spent a few very satisfying hours buying low priced items at one side of the galaxy, and selling them for a 50% profit at the other side. I was quickly able to afford an awesome new ship, all the best weapons and equipment and now im more than equipped to carry on with the story mode. I rarely spend actual money on In-app purchases, but the quality of this game has persuaded me to spend nearly £15 so far, which mainly went on the additional story modes. GOF2 is also compatible with MFi controllers and the use of my Moga Rebel controller enhances the experience massively. If, like me, you dream of being able to freely explore a galaxy, then this game is for you. Definitely one of the top 3 games I've ever played on iOS!

I have written exceptional praise for this game previously and my thoughts remain unchanged. This game is unbeatable and I echo someone’s previous comment that it is simply the best ever. Do not ever dare to remove this game 😉. I am playing what must be my 20th run through of this game and it still ticks all the gameplay boxes. The guys and gals who put this together at fish labs all those years ago have left a great legacy. I really wished GOF3 was the same style but sadly it was a different model and enough has been said about that. GOF2 has been my favourite game ever, above Elite, Elite Frontier, X3 et al in this category and I do pray that in the future another game like this, open space is made by the same superb team fishlabs had on the books. Quite remarkable.
