Highly recommend, periods & ovulation made easy to understand!
Absolutely love Glow! Five years and counting. Everything about this app is so easy to understand & really helped me learn my cycle, even to the point where I fell pregnant within five months of actively trying (these features can be changed in the settings). I absolutely love the glow community, being able to speak with people from around the world that are having similar problems or share the same interests as you. The only downside is I had huge problem linking to my Apple Watch 5, and when it finally did there were no quick adds like on ‘glow baby’. I still have to log onto my phone to add anything, maybe that’s something to come in time.
The community is disgusting
The app itself is easy to use and is almost accurate. Could do with a few bugs ironing out. It does the job and I was going to pay for a years premium until I started using the community feature. It’s what you expect from an online community. Repetitive but informative. The downside is (which is reflected in the stars awarded) the community rooms don’t seem to be monitored properly. Rules are disregarded in certain rooms specifically designed for the more difficult side of trying to conceive and some women are horrifically abusive. I’ve never encountered such vile comments on an online community and unfortunately Glow don’t appear to be proactive on the issue allowing the offenders to remain on the app and further their abuse on the population. The abuse ranging from name calling to wishing miscarriages on other women. I can’t seem to see any system in place to remove such users. With this in mind, I’ll be trying other apps with communities and seeing what they are like in comparison as I would like my money to go to a more safe and balanced community feature. To round up the review. Glow has a decent interface. It is almost accurate give or take a day or two. I advise using premom if you’re using OPKs and manually updating glow with the information. Steer clear of the community if you’re on a difficult journey as it will leave you downtrodden and shaken.
Useful but demoralising language if TTC a while
Useful to help track the cycle, generally not bad at predicting ovulation vs what I’ve found with physical signs and ovulation kits. Has a helpful OPK strip scanner which gives you a second pair of “eyes” to tell if your line is dark enough. Pro was good while I was learning my cycle symptoms but after a year it didn’t give me anything I didn’t already know so I switched back to basic.
However, some of the language the app uses really starts to grate when you’ve been TTC for a while, clearly having issues, and not only do you then see the same messages more, but things like “time is ticking, make the most of every cycle” can be pretty triggering. What was even more triggering was logging in after the latest update it seemed to think I’d entered a pregnancy when I hadn’t, then I had to click through to end a pregnancy and those few screens weren’t nice to read either, would hate to do that with an actual miscarriage.
Just think some of the language could be more appreciative that this is people real lives rather than just a marketing scheme to sell the app & pro version (which is thrown down your neck every day)
