GoGogate2 4+

I fitted this device to a garage door and a shutter door and this device opens and closes the doors seamlessly from anywhere using my phones 3g or 4g or wifi and combined with my ring doorbell pro I've taken more than 30 deliveries whilst being away from home, sometimes in other countries.

There is one problem, I bought the video add on for about £30 for 3 years which after fitting a camera in my garage allows me to see inside my garage whilst using the app but this doesn't work as advertised or is next to useless. The video to my phone is running at about 1 frame per second which is not fast enough to see what's going on, delivery has happened and all I see is a closed garage then the next frame is a half opened garage then a fully opened garage and the parcel has been delivered before the next frame which is of the fully opened garage. If I swap to the app that is associated with the camera I get smooth video (obviously when connected to wifi or good phone signal) i have a very fast home internet speed and even with the gogogate2 hard wired to my network this is still the case. I spoke to Gogogate2 and they said this was normal. I say that they should not be charging for the video feed until they sort this.

I was a GGG v1 owner / customer & specifically upgraded to GGG v2 to minimise the inconvenience when on the way home, wanting to have opened the garage door by the time I arrive - by not having to get my phone out my pocket, unlock it, launch the app, wait for it to initialise & then give me access to the door open button.. This when driving is illegal too!

GGG2 allows the user if they have an Apple Watch, to open the door via the Watch.... Hurrah!

Well, it does that, just.. I find the app quite hit & miss really - which is a crying shame...

First of all you have to launch the app then wait for it to initialise via your phones web connection and the it presents a box with presumably the code associated with your garage door - it's just a long series of numbers & letters.

I don't really want the small screen of the watch cluttered / wasted on what seems to be wasted screen-real-estate.

Next, it then shows the open button with (if you have the video plugin) the picture of whatever your camera is pointed at. That is, if it can show the pic / video.. Whilst my phone is on WiFi & it's app displays the video plug-in, sometime the Watch cannot.

Next, if you tap the Video picture (assuming it's displayed) you're supposed to be shown the video in full screen mode - well, where mine did show the video plugin on the initial screen, after what seemed to be very long; mine is very hit & miss of showing the video full screen - it more often than not just displays a big stationary swirly - again, even while the phone app is perfect.

Finally, & worst of all; often the app just freezes & so renders it totally useless - even when exiting the app & relaunching - it just goes straight to the hung app wherever it was when it froze & then guess what? Yes, I have to get the phone out, unlock it, launch the app, what for it to initialise & finally open the door!

So, it has great potential but is lacking stability & a touch more logic in its presentation.

Will re-review & amend accordingly if the app is updated - I seriously hope it is as I'm very disappointed right now..

The gogogate2 product works really well. I control 2 garage doors and a gate with it.
The app works but as per some other reviews it would be nice to be able to customise the pictures for the doors.

The watch app works but takes a long time to come up and its often quicker to just reach for my phone and use the phone app, which typically connects almost straight away.

What’s really needed is a CarPlay app though. It would be nice to be able to just select the gate / garage to open from my car’s UI instead of the phone or watch app.
