What’s New

Version 2.2.1

Bug fixes:
- sample folders with dots in their names were not seen - fixed;
- AUv3: "Start with Host" setting was not working/displaying correctly;
- AUv3: if you solo one part and then reopen plugin's window, solo will be cancelled - fixed;
- Copy/Paste Entire Part now pastes part's name too;
- pressing and holding the Part select, Mute, Erase, Trigger etc. buttons from the external midi controller (previously assigned via Midi Learn) was not working correctly: it would release when you touched some pads on the screen at the same time - fixed now;
- using with LaunchPad Pro: during playback, "Follow Cursor" function was not working (not updating the current bar) while app was in the background - fixed;

Other changes:
- you can now use EXIT button during playback to cancel jumping to the next pattern in case you have occasionally selected it;
- during pattern playback, if you occasionally touched the SONG mode button, you can now cancel it by tapping the SONG button again. EXIT button will work for this too;
- Revert to Saved: you can now use this function during pattern playback, no need to stop the pattern.

GrooveTribe

I’ve previously owned both Electribes (red sampler & blue synth), I saw no reason too look at Groove Rider GR-16. However, facing a long journey with my iPad Air 2 I decided buy it.
Wow, no instructions needed as it is self intuitive especially if you use the current electribes. The synth is as powerful as what you will need plus you can load your own samples too. This is a game changer for me and despite the blue electribe having a better synth engine (it’s a king korg), I sold them both.
The GR-16 synth engine is pretty good and covers most things for most people. You don’t have to be into EDM to use this. I write ambient and alternative electronica and some synth pop. It goes as deep as you want it to go or as light as you want. Great to either pick up and knock out a few grooves or dive in and explore for hours.
I love it, it’s a powerful addition to my music making collection.

Excellent but finding it hard to use...

I’d been deliberating over a new fun app for years and after reading all the fab reviews I got this. It’s very hard to get your head around if you’re used to something like Cubase. Took me 2 days to get a basic beat down and copy it to other patterns. I tried changing the key of some bars but messed it up. I’ll have to read the manual again. Not many videos on YT on more advanced stuff, dissapointingly.

However I can “play” stuff in using my MIDI keyboard rather than programming it so that’s good. It would be awesome to be able to assign the arrow buttons andselection wheel on the left to my midi controller to save tapping on the little screen buttons ALL the time

The preset sound and synth side are really good. I really like that you can customise how patterns are stored eg I have it set to 16 x 16 so it’s like 16 songs, each with 16 patterns in. It’s ok but I could do with 50 x 16 as I have a 50 song setlist! Hmmmmm nyhoo it’s still early days so we’ll see.

Deeper than it first appears

I wasn’t sure about getting this due to concerns that it would be like going back to the days of hardware with serious limitations and tedious programming methodology. I still struggle a little with the old fashioned way of programming but the sound capabilities are worth the effort. I can’t understand why anyone still wants to pay close to a grand for a hardware box that can’t do half of what this can without the cost of power supplies, cables, sync issues, need for expensive hardware mixers and all of that. This is going to take some mastering but I have been getting such amazing bass and drum sounds so far that I am going to put the time in. Although impressive I am not into any of the styles in the presets apart from two but if you want a dub machine for great bass and drums this could be for you.
