Get ready to head back to the East Coast in Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories.

Former trusted wise guy for the Leone family, Toni Cipriani returns home to Liberty City after spending time in hiding for killing a made man. Now, the streets of Liberty City are in turmoil, as warring families vie for control and the town begins to self-destruct under waves of political corruption, organized crime, drug trafficking and union strikes. Deranged hit men, morally depraved tycoons, cynical politicians and even his own mother stand in the way as Toni tries to bring the city under Leone family control.

Editors’ Notes

Liberty City Stories shows off one of gaming’s most memorable worlds while taking you on an action-packed tour of a criminal underworld. Stealing cars, evading cops and racing through streets littered with obstacles is an absolute blast. Gaining notoriety while amassing new cars and weapons is as addictive as ever, and the franchise’s familiar dark humour had us laughing out loud. Rockstar's enormous game offers a wonderful sandbox filled with chaos and silliness, and you won’t want to leave it.

@TheCannon_real ,

Good but....

This was a great game on the PS2 so I was excited about playing it... I downloaded the other iOS GTA's and they all work fine however this one has a couple of problems: won't let me advance passed the login screen, have to open and close the game a few times. The steering doesn't always work so instead of turning I plough into whatever is there and keeps shutting down the game on the JD mission when you follow the helicopter to the building.

Great game (now it works)

I gave up on this 2 years ago playing on an IPad mini 2. The drive by controls where awkward and once I got to the dreaded mission I got stuck like a lot of people. Now, playing on an iPhone 7, it works great and hasn’t crashed once on ‘Calm Before The Storm.’ It looks good too and runs at 60fps which makes it look and feel smoother to play than the other GTA ports. If you make use of the 3D Touch controls on the newer devices drive by shooting works better on this than any other GTA port as you can aim first and press harder to start firing. Using manual aiming works well enough once you get used to it, aside from ‘The Portland Chainsaw Masquerade’ and the side mission it spawns I managed to complete the game 100% using manual aim. As good as the 3 and vice city ports are this feels more involved with that full control on offer. It doesn’t have the best soundtrack for a GTA, it’s hard to top Vice City and San Andreas on that score but it’s got a good enough story and ties into other characters and stories from the main GTA games. I really enjoyed it and would recommend it to any GTA fan who hasn’t played it yet. I hope Rockstar carry on with the ports, they seem to sit in the top 200 App Store games all the time and with the likes of Warriors, Max Payne 2 and Vice City Stories etc would be sweet to play on the bus to work.
