Guilded - community chat 17+

Includes everything you’d want from discord in terms of settings and server functionality and much needed extra features that are extremely freeing and fun to play with! Additions like the extra channel types are amazing and I love the more traditional format of things like the forum. Many streamlining features that make a lot of sense, like having a text stream within a voice channel, whereas on discord you’d always have to chat in a separate channel.

Layout is very familiar if you are used to discord. I don’t know about any technical issues so far and for context I haven’t invited anyone to my server so bare that in mind, I just see that the features are definitely an upgrade.

I moved over from Discord due to their approach on privacy and the fact that they log so much of your data, which I felt was especially important to protect on a messaging application like discord or guilded. I am very satisfied and pray that guilded does not go over to the dark side once it hopefully becomes more popular. People who don’t have privacy concerns will likely need another reason to move over, but the free features that discord would otherwise charge for are a great start.

In its core, yes, Guilded is like Discord. When people first join the platform they usually complain about how much of a ‘copy’ it is. Don’t do that. While it does require some getting use to with the UI laid out different to Discord in places, Guilded includes some incredible features, so much that you can include forums in your Guild (server). Additionally, I find the Guilded is lighter compared to Discord, and despite me having a custom built Ryzen 7 RTX 2060, Discord would constantly disconnect me on the Java edition of Minecraft on my friends and I’s server, but Guilded didn’t when we switched later in the day. I feel all Guilded needs to do is to separate itself more from Discord so people don’t make the comparisons and give people and even better reason to use the service: it’s not like they can’t, ROBLOX owns it and they have the money. A UI refresh would be more than enough to set Guilded on a new journey.

TL;DR Go and try, just don’t compare it to Discord, maybe try it for a few days and get some friends on.

Unlike discord(which it greatly resembles and functions like), Guilded still intends to be games, despite still supporting other users. At first it can seem more complex though many aspects can be picked up fast if you’ve used Slack or Discord before- despite the resemblance however Guilded does in fact offer more to you than discord. Take for instance, mini-forums, advanced voice comm system, greater file upload sizes, server document and media storages... even free animated emotes(cos I know you discord users love them so much). Sure it might have issues occasionally(it’s a lot rarer than it was 2 years ago), but the developers maintain and update the app- making it worth a try, whether you want to have a true gamer’s chat, role-play, or just make friends. It’s free, you have little to lose.
