Hedia Diabetes Assistant 12+

Almost exactly what I’ve been looking for

As a type one diabetic and a digital product designer, I have been looking for a solution that could help me manage my diabetes and help me with my dosages.

I even started trying to build my own – I couldn’t believe one didn’t exist. Then I found Hedia.

The calculations & tracking have been helping me track my reaction to both carbs and insulin much better, reducing the feeling of anxiety when setting doses.

I only don’t rate five stars as Hedia is still part of my management tools rather than the sole application I use.

The pairing with my contour next monitor seems to be unstable and it isn’t as integrated with Apple Health or Apple Watch as One Drop. It also doesn’t seem to cover my meals as well as Carbs & Cals. So, at the minute I use Hedia to calculate my values and the One Drop to log them – using Carbs & Cals to attribute carb values.

I really hope to see Hedia continue to evolve, it’s been an excellent tool and I really appreciate the teams efforts.

Control made easier

A good few years now I have found testing and logging my bloods a right pain in some cases I would just leave it which was wrong, Now this amazing app hedia has come about it has really took over my life for the better it reminds me when to test and tell me how many units of insulin to do and even gives you a carb Calculator to use it’s so so easy my HBA1C was really high 90+ now there coming down nicely there 50 now and going down all thanks to these my everyday blood run instead of 20+ each day now I run at 6.5 most days it took me about four weeks of using it and I started to feel good seeing is believing so please try it for yourself no one eles

Pump users only?

It appears a good and useful app on the surface but it is unhelpful when you are informed to inject fractions of units when injection users cannot do so. You can round up or down but that makes the app a bit irrelevant as you are basically ending up guessing the dose. Pump users can apparently inject tenths of a unit injectors cannot. Also injectors in uk generally have a basal injection in my case once 24 hours and bolus before a meal depending on what carbs you’re going to eat so the calculation for insulin sensitivity etc is hard to understand. They ask for the total daily insulin which isn’t clear to user and can vary day to day. As a intelligent self learning app does it matter or is it ok to estimate as it will lesrn itself and correct? I just feel it’s not directed at injection users and unfortunately most in my country don’t use or qualify for one.
