I have been using HMA for over ten years

First when I lived in the USA, and later Belize, Spain, Morocco and the U.K.

The service on Macs and iOS (iPhones and iPads) has always been easy to use and seems to have a point of presence in every country on earth.

Which is vital in a place like Morocco or Belize where Skype and VPN use is often banned periodically and for varying lengths of time.

So you cannot form a vpn connection with a server outside Morocco when you live there.

At the time HMA who I had already been a Customer of for about eight years had a server inside Morocco and when I looked appeared to be the only company to have one.

Their software takes all the hassle out of configuring your device and ensures ALL your traffic goes through the VPN which is not always the case.

It’s easy to change where your proxy is located, either by choosing by location or based on the data privacy laws where the proxy server is located.

They introduced this feature just when their server list had grown so long, each with a different address such that it was becoming hard to manage.

There client software makes a difficult IT problem simple and makes it easy to choose the best server to connect to, while handling load balancing transparently for you.

The easiest and best VPN I have tried, including setting up my own on AWS.

Does what it says on the tin
Think there are few trolls out there with negative reviews! It’s fast, no leaks and a low ping! What’s more it works and so does the app itself! No point in having great server coverage if the app doesn’t perform, HMA does in both areas. I’d recommend tbh

Poor VPN for UK services

This used to be a great VPN. However, over the last six months it has lost interest in updating its VPN for the use on UK sites. Many UK media outlets have blocked HMAs VPN so that you cannot watch any of their output (even if you are legally entitled to with a TV licence!).
More problematic is their Customer service. It is sporadic with replies to problems taking over a week. Cheerful replies saying that the above mentioned problem will be solved in 3 weeks actually took 3 MONTHS to sort out! The solution then only worked for a few weeks.
I would strongly urge anyone to use another VPN and not HMA as they are no longer interested in keeping this VPN up to date or great any more.

Really disappointing.

First off this app is really good to use and it works 100% on the iPhone. The problems starts when you try to link it the Mac, it simply just doesn't work correctly. Keeps disconnecting, takes ages to connect and the support is next to none.

If you want to use this app just on the iPhone, I highly recommend it, it's up there as one of the best, however, if you want to link it to you Mac, you be better off with SurfEasy.

Update:

So I got my subscription a little under a month ago and spend most of that time back and forward with the app developer support team. After very long process the Apple just not work correctly on the Mac so I requested a refund to which it was refused. I'm not out off pocket by £68 and an app that will not work correctly on the Mac. Can't help but feel that I'm getting ripped off by the developer and apple. Be warned, if you're hoping to use this subscription on the Mac I would advise you to think twice.

absolutely no assistance

I have contacted you too many times and only had automated emails back. I’ve had problems setting up and absolutely NO ASSISTANCE I paid for a 3 year prescription and asked now several times for a REFUND! Again nothing only automated emails. I haven’t set it up and I haven’t received a refund, be aware when trying to get help because I have had no luck. I will not recommend and feel like I’ve been scammed!

Excellent App and Service

If you need to access the internet via an open WiFi system or watch your (normally) local TV programmes from somewhere else then HMA provides a solution fronted by this App on your iPhone and iPad.

Love the trial but..

So currently have a trial as I’m not rich enough to afford it and so far it great us Netflix works well I can finally watch Star Wars episode 8 which is so good. But japan Netflix doesn’t work and that brings it down for me I really wanted to watch food wars hopefully you can develop and add that one day but thank you for allowing me to watch Star Wars it means a lot.

Good but could improve

It’s a nice, user friendly VPN however I feel it could improve in some certain areas.

1. It doesn’t have a kill switch, which is a big concern especially for price, considering if the VPN decides to randomly deactivate it will expose your IP address.

2. Gets detected by a lot of anti VPN’s which I’m noticing a lot of cheaper VPN’s bypass.

3. Doesn’t really bypass Netflix and other streaming services

Apart from those issues, would I say it’s good for money? Only if your looking for something simple, however if you could add the kill switch it would be great!

VPN doesn't connect and customer service non existent

The VPN server worked just fine for the first few days of subscribing.

In the last five days, the VPN server doesn't connect to the correct country selected. I have tried to contact customer service and have heard not a word back but they continue to charge me!?
