HomeBudget is an integrated expense tracker designed to help you track your expenses, income, bills-due and account balances. It offers support for budgeting, and allows analysis of your expenses and income, including charts and graphs. Two key differentiating features of HomeBudget are:

1. Integrated set of features. The features within HomeBudget are well integrated such that a bill can become an expense (when you pay for it) and also adjust the account balance at the same time.

2. Family sync. HomeBudget includes Family Sync, an advanced feature that allows a group of devices within the household to exchange expense and income information, and work together within a single budget. Once setup, the devices sync with each other automatically over the air. Family Sync works across all features including Bills and Accounts. Please refer to the Family Sync Quick Start guide at http://www.anishu.com for information on configuring Family Sync.

I’ve been using this app for around 5 years and would recommend you give it a try. Before that a was using Microsoft Money which was heavily out of date and I found the only reason I was using my home desktop PC was for this purpose. I needed to change!

The concepts that this application uses are easy to grasp. I like the fact it provides a simple graph of income vs. expenses over a 12 month rolling window to keep me honest. I ONLY use the app on my iPhone even though I have it on Mac, and iPad too with synchronisation - it’s that good in the palm of your hand! I do like that ability to export the data into simple csv files when there is a rare need to generate some kind of view in Excel that the app does not support.

The interface is clean and simple colours are pleasant enough. When I have had a question or issue (only a couple of times ) the developer has been quick and efficient in responding - we’re talking less than 24 hours! There are very few updates - the app is that stable. Go on, give it a try and support this developer!

Complex enough to be useful. Simple enough to be useable

I have been trying various home finance apps but this is just the job. It has enough functionality to make it really useful including sync with other devices and a PC version. Yet it is simple enough to use and not so complicated I would not keep it up to date. I have found the sync is a bit erratic over 3g but we just tie things up at home over the wirleless each day.

I have now been using this app for 5 years. Still great and still useful.

Great but without innovation in more than 10 years.

I have used the app for more than TEN years, and I must to say it has been useful, but at the same time I must to say that during all these years it has been the same app without any improvement, not even a better user interface; the same icons, by the way you can’t use customised icons in two different devices, not even after recover a backup; the same reports; the same old-fashion way to search a spend; you can’t change the category of a spend; you can’t customise your summarise; you can’t customise your dashboard; the files you can export are useful, but they have some issues with jump lines and some special characters (due the language you use) so the final file has to be cleaned before to use it; after more than ten years they only have the manual in English, first red flag to know their lack of interest to open the app to the rest of the world.
