Ratings and Reviews
Ratings Confused, it’s brill!!! ??!
Having done a lot of homework purchased the Honeywell Lyric T6R for a property we let after old room stat packed up and tenants ask if they could have an internet controlled thermostat. The app works well with it, provides all the control the tenants want and at the end of the let as account holders we control who the secondary users are. Totally confused by a lot of the reviews, the basic settings have all the daily schedules you will ever need, and if required you can add more. OK not all the functions are described well in the limited instructions provided, but Google it, it has far more feature than most users will every need. That impressed will be purchasing same kit for home use.
Why are people writing reviews saying “this is a good app if it works... but it doesn’t,” then giving it 5 stars? That’s what the rating system is for- letting people know if apps work or not!
This is dreadful. It’s been so buggy the entire year we’ve had it. I’m not an app developer, but it seems like a pretty straightforward app compared to others. It doesn’t have anything particularly complicated about it and it doesn’t do much. And yet, it won’t turn my heating on in the morning. Which is great, because I get up at 4.30am, it’s winter and I live on high ground where wintery weather is common. We got the thing so we could have more control over the heating, and we have less. Every morning I wake up cold. And the geofencing thing has never worked. It just sends me notifications saying it’s confused and doesn’t know what to do because I’ve gone out and left the geofence. Which is the point of geofencing.
The update before last I thought they’d actually cracked it... but no. They’ve updated it again and now it’s the worst it’s ever been. Yes I could set all the temperatures on the thermostat, but I’m reviewing the *app*. It’s very frustrating and doesn’t do it’s job.
I prefer using Apple’s own Home App
What’s the point of this app? Apple’s own home app can turn my lyric thermostat off and on and set temperature and seems to be more reliable. I get that you can edit heating schedules in the app, but who needs to do that, I prefer to do it using the thermostat itself, it’s easier. I tried the new app today, May 24, and it immediately quit unexpectedly, even though the welcome screen boasted that it had been tested extensively. Also, although I granted location permissions, and it’s giving me a local weather forecast for my town in the UK, if I click to add another Honeywell device, the app suddenly thinks I’m in the USA. To add insult, I received an email from Honeywell today saying if I didn’t upgrade the app (already did, why don’t they know?) then I wouldn’t be able to control the device from my phone. I had deleted the old app because HomeKit works good enough for me but now I’m wondering if this means that they’ve withdrawn HomeKit support now? Totally confused and doubt I’ll be purchasing anything else from Honeywell.
