Hook Up: The Game 17+

So let’s get something off the bat: This is very short. You can do the whole thing and all interactions in under 40 minutes. There are some options for changing your own profile but they seem to be ultimately meaningless. You will probably find that it is best to match with everyone just to see the interactions involved. As for the “main” story interaction, after you have seen it, despite the ‘emoji’ responses and the description saying there are choices, there are only about 3 choice at the end of the whole interaction which takes a mere 5 minutes in total to complete, and they just decide how to end the story. there is no real replay value. I did the game twice just to find out and realised that there is nothing more to do. I honestly would have loved this to be longer, and more drawn out. As a male it is interesting to see from the perspective of a female how interactions on dating apps go, and how other males are huge red flags etc. 3/5 for now due to how little there is.

I waited ages for this game to come out and when it finally cam out I playe it for the first time and completed it in 5 minutes. I expected it to be like episode where you get to choose what you say but instead you just type the keyboard and the words appear. I think it could do with more development and more thing to do. But at the moment it's not worth £1.79

Ignore the reviews that say anything about this being a short game. It has more replay value under the surface than you might think.

The music, art style, interface and writing are on point and it does not take long before you are really invested in Alex, the protagonist of the tale, as she navigates her way though the fictional app and engages with a colourful cast of characters from the world of online dating. At times it almost feels like a Black Mirror mini game!

A mix of dark humour, intended cringe and some heart felt emotional interactions, Hook Up is worthy of its accolades and I cannot wait to see what the developer creates next!
