Description
HorseRiderSOS designed to make hacking and handling horses safer, when working alone, was the idea of specialist trainer of young and problem horses Michael Peace.
“I am probably more aware of the dangers of working with horses than anyone,” says Michael Peace. “After all, many of the horses who come to me for schooling have very serious behavioural problems. Like most riders, there are times when I am the only one at the yard and while I am very careful to keep safety my priority, accidents can and do happen. One of my clients fell off her horse miles from home and was unconscious for over an hour…worst of all, nobody knew she’d even fallen off! Luckily some hikers found her and were able to call for help, but now she always uses HorseRiderSoS.”
Simple to use, you just activate the app before heading off on your hack or when you’re working with your horse and there’s no one around.
Your activity is monitored in ‘tracking mode’ as you ride or move around, and in the event of you becoming unseated, injured or unconscious, the app recognises when no movement is felt for a set time and will enter ‘Alert mode’ and send a message to your chosen ‘Buddy’ with your location, by text, email. Once ‘Alert Mode’ has been activated, the rider is notified and is then able to over-ride the system with a small movement if it’s not a genuine emergency.
Thanks to the GPS capability of your smart-phone, once an alert has been triggered, your exact position can be detected so that you can be found without delay.

Background use please
I love the safety this gives me but I would love more if it still ran whilst I check the map on my phone. I enjoy exploring and this gives me confidence on my own, but there are risky moments when I need to check my route.
What you need to know before you waste your money
Due to a limitation of the IOS platform in order to send messages from your number automatically they have to use a third party app. You will only get three free messages and then you have to pay for any additional messages there after! Why do you not tell people this before hand? So £6.99 for the app! And it doesn’t stop there folks!!! Come on and tell people this before they splash their cash. Otherwise you are not being honest

Thanks for your feedback. We have had a few problems in the past with this and we were a bit underfunded to keep the app working, though recently we’ve done lots of updates fixing bugs that the app has had. Everything now works as it should. You now get 3 free texts, and then a weeks free subscription, where you have unlimited texts. Sorry for the inconvenience and hope you will give us another shot. Started work last week on a yard that is isolated..after a delivery yesterday and numerous questions from the delivery guy I felt a little uneasy. Found this app which after testing made myself and family more at ease, not only for riding and around the horses but safety in general. Only issue after testing is that the buddy couldn't contact me through the text message alert (which was my number) and had to then me call directly.....great app and idea! 😉
