HP Smart for Desktop 4+

Any of the advice, tips or instructions from HP seem to be slightly 'off-key', in otherwords, they are not straightforward and logical. I guess they have a method of wrting that isn't really in touch with the real world. Anyway, despite poorly written instructions, the App is clean, it works but it is not massivly useful. I already had a HP M281fdw which is pretty good, I've had it a few years and it generally behaves! I already sucessfully use HP Easy Scan, which is basic but it works. Although this this interface is fresh, it doesn't give any new benefits. However, this App got me going with mobile scanning, which is useful and free. You need to also download HP Smart on your mobile and use the App to initialise the scaning. This seems to be my only net gain and I didn't need to load the app on my Mac either! I will use the App on my phone for document and receipt scanning, but I doubt I'll ever use the App on my Mac.

I have used HP Printers/Scanners for home office business for over 20 years and have always been happy with the functionality especially for the scanning element. BUT this new HP Smart app is so backward in functionality that I am now seriously considering seeking alternative brands for a printer combined scanner. WHY... It is slow to load. You have to reload each time if you wish to clear the scanner from previous scans as multipage deletion does not work and there is not single button for a single step delete. There is no supported double sided scan, so you have to manually re-sort and sequence pages. It is so far from HPs original easy scan app, that for me it is so time consuming that everytime I use it I get very frustrated. How in this world of technology can new software revisions go backwards so much. Also the HP Smart is desgined for instant ink. But I cannot purchase instant ink in Andorra and so I think this is why the app is slow, becuase it trying to do stuff that Is not not usable for non instant ink users. Come on HP get your act together get your business analyst to to a better scope of works and improve this app pronto.

As a 30 year veteran of user interfaces and a daily user of my HP Printer, and a fan and frequent user of HP printers for decades, I find the current version of HP Smart (16.6.1) far inferior in usability to the previous version. I regret having upgraded and am surprised at HP for releasing it. For printing, the previous user interface had one convenient integrated menu on which most if not all options could be chosen. This was easy, quick and efficient. The new interface, by contrast, is cumbersome, slow, inconvenient and frankly annoying, in that every option has to be individually selected, to name but one of several drawbacks. The design appears to be one that some programmer concocted without surveying what a typical user wants. He or she would have been better off paying attention to the adage "if it works, don't fix it!" All in my office feel the same. Moreover, the printing now seems to take much longer, even for a simple plain text page. Sorry but... thumbs DOWN on this one. Is there a way to revert to the earlier version, please??
