This app is a joke from past

You can’t believe that anyone approved such terrible app to be published. Everything (including simple login) takes ages, but that doesn’t matter that much, as you cannot do much anyway. If you look at the competition with nicely designed superfast apps, authentication of desktop login by just touch ID on my mobile without any extra passwords or copying numbers there and back. WAKE UP HSBC!! Fire your IT department, they are laughable.
I think good reviews come only from people who have never seen really good app. For example my Czech bank let me take photo of invoice/payment slip/whatever and tries to find out all the details (account number, bank name, value) and it has really impressive results. I see everything in the real-time, I can immediatelly save photocopy of receipt with the payment and indicate payment type (which app try to guess for me as well). I can see my transactions 10 years back and create standing orders or enter international payments. All lighting fast. This app is a poor joke from the past.

Unable to have more than one profile

The app is good but a big frustration is that I can only use it for my own profile. I have Power of Attorney over my father’s HSBC account and 3rd Party Authority over my wife’s (she also has 3rd Part Authority over my account), however I cannot use the app on my iPhone to access their details (which so am legally able to do). I am told that this is due to “security” (ie. It is apparently unsafe to use the HSBC app to access more than one profile). This is a load of nonsense. The app is either safe and secure, or it isn’t. And if it is safe (which HSBC tell me it is for my profile) then it is safe for any profile to which I am legally entitled to access (ie. My father’s or my wife’s). Come on HSBC. Stop hiding behind excuses. I don’t want to have to keep two physical dongles with me so I can access the other profiles. You should allow anyone with authority to access any profiles they are entitled to access.

HSBC + App = Stone Age

Ok, this mobile banking app has to be one of the worst apps available to the banking consumers. For regular updates and features this app is non-existent, it’s really only useful to check your balance. If it’s only good for that, then I’d rather just use a PC and get semi-full access to my account and features for banking.

As a HSBC account holder I feel that the mobile banking app doesn’t even come close to other banking apps such as Barclays; Nationwide; Lloyds; Santander to name a few are far superior in accessing your account and accessing all the features as if you were in a local bank branch.

The app fails on so many levels but where it does succeed is in its ability to connect global accounts, where you can see all your HSBC accounts in one place including loans; credit cards and savings accounts, pretty handy if you ask me.

Personally I avoid the app like the plague, what I have done instead is linked PayPal to my bank account and just transfer money to other bank accounts and use their apps instead, just because other banks mobile banking apps are far more superior and are updated regularly to accommodate newer phones and devices.

Why oh why are HSBC stuck in the past?

c’mon HSBC get your ***t together and get a decent app out there. The younger generation will need this functionality that other banks are providing through their apps, ignore them and you’ll have and ageing customer base.
