Description
Hungry Hearts Diner is a game about a small shop at the edge of a
big city. Take on the role of the hard-working old lady struggling to
manage her family's little restaurant—and all by her lonesome, too!
Cook tasty meals for a variety of colorful characters, and learn more
about their triumphs and struggles as they chow down on your tasty,
home-cooked food. Rice balls, dumplings, tempura...you can make it all!
In fact, the more you cook, the more dishes you'll unlock.
And hey, you'll even get a chance to learn about good ol' fashioned
Japanese cuisine while you're at it! Did you know you can make
jelly out of seaweed? Because I didn't!
Of course, the people who visit your diner all have a story to tell.
And what makes people more talkative than a full belly?
Feed your customers until they feel like sitting back and spinning
you a yarn or two!
But not every story is a happy one, and not every ending
joyous. Stay tuned for some twists and turns!
Story
------------------------------------------
On a tiny side street in a nameless little neighborhood sits an
old Japanese diner. Things are quiet here; old-fashioned
you might say. But of course they are. It's Showa era Japan,
and the television is just starting to come into vogue.
Slide open the screen door and you'll see a kindly old lady
hard at work behind the counter. Her husband's been sick
for a while, and she's had to run the place on her own.
It's hard work, but she's a tough one, and she gets by.
Sit down at one of the worn wooden tables, and close your
eyes. Thunk thunk goes the steady beat of a knife chopping
veggies. Hisss; the sound of meat sizzling in a pan.
Swish swish; a whisk beating eggs.
The soothing sounds of a simple kitchen.
Sit here long enough, and all that tension will just flow
right out of you. So come on in, order a hot meal, and take
a load off. The peace'll do you good.
So, let me guess. The question you're asking yourself right now
is "is this game for me"? Well, maybe it is.

Loved it!
Honestly I downloaded it because the artwork looked cute and so thought it would be a nice time waster game to play for a while. I didn’t expect it to make me cry! The pacing of each character’s story is so good and engrossing. The artwork is simple but cute, and unlocking each meal is easy enough to be not annoying but takes long enough that it makes you want to keep playing.
I also think that the time it takes the hearts to recharge is perfect, and a lot faster than most free-to-play games. It allows me to have a break and forces me to pace myself, rather than racing through the game in one day.
There’s so many different things to cook, and actually the flavour text makes me want to try and cook them in real life too, haha. I’ve been to Japan a lot and the vibe of the diner really reminds me of a lot of the great little places I’ve been to, run by grandmas and grandpas in wood-panelled rooms with mismatched furniture.
My only negative point is that the upgrades don’t really seem to have a big impact on the gameplay? The extra tables you can buy seem a bit pointless because the rate the customers come doesn’t increase, so all you gain is a few more people waiting for you when you come back to the game after a while. The same with increasing the order speed etc, there’s never any rush for them to order and eat faster. It’s not a huge problem and didn’t make the game bad or anything, so I don’t count it as a big con.
Love it! But...
I got this game.. probably about a week ago and didn't really play it much but I finished the storyline yesterday. I absolutely love the ending and the style of the game is so cute, and i love how it isn't like any other cooking/ resturant game i've played (with this one you can just make whatever food u want and they eat it, which i was really happy about and makes it mych easier to unlock new recipes).
I got the temple upgrade as soon as i hit level 25 and i only have a couple more recipes to unlock, but i really wish there were more characters and a longer storyline. I've recommended this game to lots of my friends and one of them fell in love with it as soon as they saw it, same as me!
I did get a couple of your other games but probably won't play them as much as this one as this is probably my favourite game! I love absolutely everything about it (except for the fact that it is pretty easy to complete)
One of the most beautiful, heartwarming games I have ever played
It’s no lie when I say this is one of the most beautiful, heartwarming and fun games I have ever played. I played it so much I managed to complete the story mode within 3 days but enjoyed every second of it. The meals you could cook were so cute, the art was gorgeous and each character’s storyline was so interesting and really hooked you in. I thought the ending was so touching.
The gameplay is so fun and nothing like any other cash-grab cheaply made animated cooking frenzy type game I have tried to endure playing before. This is so much more, so much more well thought out and you could really tell the developers poured their hearts and souls into this game. I couldn’t recommend a game more, I just wish it was so much longer so that I could enjoy this game even more!
