‘Innocent’ game review.

The game itself is really good. I like the realism of the phone calls and building up relationships with the characters. One thing you could improve on though is the mini games, you have to get a certain amount of stars to proceed with the storyline just to get a little 30second message to then have to play more mini games.
The mini games don’t vary and it it’s very time- consuming. Me and my cousin sat there for an hour and a bit ( on each other’s phones ) trying to work out one of the puzzles for each other. We ended up getting stressed out and soon stopped playing. I still have the game downloaded but I hardly ever go on it now.
Great game overall.

Great story but game play progression is tedious and frustrating

TL:DR ;good story so far, the mini games you must beat to progress are very repetitive and hard to win because of RNG mechanics. One of payment would be better than micro transactions/mini games.

I love the story of this game: it’s intriguing, well written, and keeps you in suspense. However, as you will find written in many other reviews, the mini game that you must complete isn’t the most exciting thing in the world: but it has bigger flaws than its repetitive nature: it’s RNG based so their is a fairly high chance that even if you play the game as perfectly as possible, that enough blocks of a certain colour will spawn for you to pass the level without using hacks: hacks that you have to pay for with in game currency that runs out fairly quickly (unless you buy more with real money). In addition to this the ‘lives’ system means that you can’t play the mini games on répète for an hours or so as every time you die (which is often caused by the RNG mechanics) you lose a life which means that you run out fairly quickly so that you can wait 1/2 an hour for a life to regenerate Only to fail the game again and have to wait for longer (unless you buy more lives with real money) This is what makes the game play frustrating, and this is why I have given up on this game: I’m sure a lot of people would be happier to pay £3.99 to replace the boring and unfair mini game or the endless micro transactions

Amazing concept, however...

The concept of the game is incredible. There’s absolutely no valid argument against that. The real time text and call conversations between you and the other characters is really unique and immersive. That’s what brought the star rating up in my opinion. The story is interesting, the character development is engaging and the idea as a whole is truly amazing, 5 out of 5 stars for the concept.

However, I knew after playing the first 5-10 minutes of the game, it was too good to be true. Once I had to gain ‘stars’ to carry on the story, I had to stop playing. It’s infuriating! “Gain 3 stars to carry on” means that I have to play the same, boring block game over and over again. Not to mention, you need an excessive amount of stars to carry on the story for about 30 seconds, until it asks you to gain another 3. Come on, at least vary the mini games slightly. It is awfully tedious to play that block game that gets progressively more difficult, and it hardly gets you anywhere.

For the time being, I won’t be playing this game, purely because I don’t have the patience to sit for an hour trying to gain stars to carry on a minuscule portion of the story. If you enjoy playing block mini games and following crime stories, this game is for you. Great concept, awful gameplay.
