FXCM: Trade Forex & Stocks CFD 4+

The design of the app is functional and quite basic, like a programme from the 1990’s. Not sure how they got best app award 2020. The basic instrument info you need is there, but info is not presented as good as other trading apps.

The stock/fx/indices search function is about 30 years behind the times. Not very user friendly for simply browsing through stocks etc. Its ok if you now what your looking for.

The charts are ok, as are the technical tools. But
you can’t place out of hours pending orders!😧
Wake up FXCM and see what your competitor apps are like and design something modern. It’s ‘more Nokia 3310 than iPhone’.

I don’t know how they’ve got their awards, but to me it feels like this app was designed by someone who’s never traded.

What I mean…

1. If you place multiple orders on one pair, there’s now way one could view all open positions on one chart. Basically, you can only view one open position on the chart. Similarly, missing info on the chart like Avg Open lines.

2. When maximizing any chart, flipping the device to landscape view won’t flip the chart too. So basically we are limited to viewing a chart in portrait mode, therefore hard to see trends, etc.

3. On the old app there was an option to zoom in and out the chart by swiping along the timestamps. This is missing on this “new, improved” version.

Wake up, FXCM! Traders use charts, therefore you should try to give the best experience and the best charts traders can use. Otherwise you only have a good looking app that’s just useless. I can’t believe you left the good and working charts behind to come up with this useless option of charts..

Please fix these flaws before switching off the old app.

Although very old and quite slow at times, I’m still using that one because… well, it has the features above and many others that have been missed in this one.

Ohh, and one more thing. I’m leaving the review here because your feedback button in the app doesn’t work either. So please don’t ask me to send my review/comments again to some email of your liking. Please fix the issues.

After review further your issues, below are the reply:


1. Regarding the open position lines issue, please follow by the steps to enable it.
a. If you go to Settings > Chart View > Trading Line Display > Display on all charts it will show a line for every open position on all charts
b. If you go to Summary view, it will show a line for your average open price on the Summary position
2. Currently we cannot support the chart for the landscape mode, we already escalated this request.
3. You can easily use your fingers to touch the x/y axis to compress/expand candle height etc.
4. We will fix the button of feedback in the next version.

The errors on displaying EMA’s is still here.
I’ve been using the app since it came into existence but inaccurate ema displays are very disappointing. Even after many updates I’ve taken so many screenshots of the ema’s showing a vertical line either at the end or previous bars behind and even a exponential, moving average, looking like a simple, moving average and it not looking like the ema’s on MarketScope 2.0
