Music Streamer for Mac

Great release! Have been using the Music Streamer app on iPad and iPhone for a few years now and love it. With hundreds of albums and thousands of tracks organised on a NAS drive it makes things really easy to catalogue, find and play anything I feel like. Was very excited to see the new release of a Mac version so bought it straight away, and not disappointed. Importing playlists from Music/iTunes is a breeze, and the resizable album panel is really smooth and fast. And this is only version 1 - what's next :-)

Been waiting for this one!

I use this app on iOS as well, and being able to replace Mac iTunes with this player is a dream. The new play list import feature means I don't need to re-create ones I had in iTunes, so I now have my favourite play lists and access to all my music in an app that just works. Also, no other music app offers search this easy, with a pinch to zoom that makes finding albums very rapid. This app is a strong recommend.

Desktop version needs work!

At pressent it's essentially a desktop port of a mobile app. Main issues so far, (Version 1.0):

1. You have to enable sharing permissions for a connected external drive - otherwise it will only allow you to link to music stored over a network or to local files specifically in an iTunes or Music folder in your system storage.

2. Track titles are uncomfortably small, even with 'bigger text' turned on.

3. Default artwork size is also very small and rescalling appears only possible via pinch-to-zoom - bad if you don't use a trackpad.

4. No option to remember playback possition in a track - bad for audiobooks.

5. No option to show album/artist name under the tiled artwork thumbnails.

6. Doesn't seem to like embedded artwork saved as .png's.

This is only version 1 however, hopefully the dev's will sort these issues out. Otherwise it's quite an attractive little music player, useful as an alternative to Apple Music if you have separate audio libraries.

Developer Response ,

Thanks for this feedback which is great. The update coming our soon has a zoom control for those without a trackpad and we have more improvements in the works!
