Not a Game - An Experience
Plug In Digital’s 2022 action-role playing game Turnip Boy Commits Tax Evasion is perhaps one of the greatest things to grace our pathetic 80 year existences. In this game, you play as Turnip Boy as he embarks on a quest across his world to discover a beautifully crafted storyline with deep and tactical gameplay. The result of Plug In Digital’s hard work that has been obviously poured into this masterpiece is a profoundly personal and relatable experience. I’m sure anyone and everyone can relate to avoiding paying any form of tax, brutally murdering any random animals in your way, destroying any piece of paper in your sight, and being a general threat to public safety. It’s the deep level of relatability that makes the story great, and the combat and tough choices that make up its classical RPG structure are as deep as how a 14 year old views Billie Eilish singing about how she used to wet the bed until she was nine.
One of my favourites
While I wasn’t expecting to be stopped by a literal paywall, I already have this game on my laptop so I’m not buying it again.
It’s still one of my all time favourite games though and I really enjoyed it. The third boss was kinda hard and took me a few tries but it was great when I finally beat it. No spoilers but I thought the final boss would be harder than that, maybe I just had bad timing with the third boss.
Great game
A lovely game which doesn’t outstay its welcome - also a lot cheaper on iOS than console!
One small thing is now I’ve completed the game on my iPhone 11 the percentage on the pause menu is overlapping with another number (number of blue tickets I guess) so I can no longer see how close I am to 100% or how many tickets I have
