I’ve been with them for about a year now. They don’t work against the trader. I had many times a trade on with price going just 1-2 point near my stop loss then turn back and goes. My stop loss wasn’t triggered. Some other brokers I’ve been with before would have widen spread to trigger it but not IG. I had a few slippage in fast volatile conditions but mostly positive slippage not negative. They also offer more spreadbet on options than any other decent broker. Opening the live account I remember was really difficult. I’ve been trading for years with other brokers when I first tried to open with IG and they refused it and also refused to tell me why but many months later I tried again and they opened the account for me. Transferring money into the trading account from debit card is instantly on in seconds. I did a withdrawal of £1000 once on Thursday afternoon about 4pm to my debit card and the money was on my account next day on Friday. So no problem with transferring money in or out. They also offer ProRealTime software free of charge as long as you meet they minimum trade/month. The only things I think they could improve on are 1. Sometimes luckily rarely they site is completely down and can’t access my trades. I could count on my one hand the number of occurrences in a year so not that bad. But 2. The web trading platform should offer some more drawing tools at least like in ProRealTime. I prefer they website to trade even it’s more basic than the software. Need (Colouring background differently for odd and even days for better visualisation on lower timeframes. Auto select Quad lines drawing. Regression channel. Free-hand drawing on chart.)

I have only been using a few weeks, after trading crypto and commodities on Hyperliquid. Where I became sick of slippage (always in the platforms favour) and the liquidation sweeps so entrenched in crypto since Financial Institutions and Trumps got involved. One issue is data feed fails between US market close and Asian market opens. I have an outstanding complaint, because as a new user I did not recognise what was happening and had 3x scalps stop out INSTANTLY on a frozen, delayed IG UI. It was a shame L1 support did not seem to understand the issue, but am sure the complaints team will. This aside, I am happy with the transparency of the fee structure and ease of use.

I cannot stress enough not to download this platform! My experience with them has been one of poor customer services, issues at every turn. My friend who also downloaded and used them at the same time has had similar issues all be it not as bad! Firstly this is not a platform for small new to investing people! It’s costly and any money you may make on your investments could be eaten up by charges. So to be clear it’s £8 when you buy or sell shares and this seems to be whether you buy £100 or £1000, so weighted to large investors! They will then charge you £24 per quarter just to hold them. Now I know they have to charge but this in comparison to other platforms is very high and a reduced cost for smaller investors would be a smart move on their behalf! Now to the main issue! I bought my shares, sold them for more, lost all my profits in the charges and yet even though they say 1-2 working days to release funds I am now on the 13th working day and still not released!! I have emailed over and over again and get very generic we’re looking into it emails back!! A joke to be honest! My friend has said he had similar issues and then once funds were released he could only withdraw back to his credit card as that’s how he topped account up! Not his registered PayPal, not his register bank card or bank account! I mean what if he had got rid of his credit card?!?! What would they do then?? Please please use a different platform like Barclays investment account where when you have an issue they actually deal with it!

Our credit team have rules when you withdraw funds in line with anti money laundering policies set by our regulators that we have to follow but we understand it can be frustrating. I’ve been a customer for several years, lately things have been going from bad to worse, non of the moving averages worked MA EMA or the centre of Bollinger band, contacted them first time asked for screenshot said they would look into it after a couple of weeks hearing nothing contacted again, same again, contacted third time, said they would escalate the issue that must of been about 4 weeks ago, still nothing, contacted them again saying still waiting for a reply, absolutely nothing back, changed away from the app and logged in directly now the 5 min chart just stops moving, price is still moving but not the chart, you constantly checking to see if it’s displaying the correct price and this is for the FTSE 100 not something obscure, beginning to think they are trying to break you concentration, also, it would keep forgetting your settings like net off force open, something else you had to keep watching. Just moved some of my money out to open account with another broker, if it goes well will close the account. Very disappointing after several years recommending them to other people—-UPDATE: —- Things have improved, they appear to have sorted the problems out at last, Thank you!
