Excellent and simple to use
Like others I found this app stopped working after a recent update but the developers quick response solved the problem in seconds (you need to have locations services switched ON in order for the location/GPS metadata to remain intact on your photos; in previous versions all metadata was stripped from photos).
Now that i have the app back up and running I am making full use of it with the numerous fonts, colours and opacity features.
The only features/improvements I can suggest is the ability to use the copyright symbol anywhere in the line of text, not just at the start and also multiple lines of text. As a workaround at the moment I just put the same image through the app twice. Otherwise it's perfect.
Impression is no longer free and will now cost you £1.19 (at time of writing). However, I was fortunate enough to have installed it when it was free and this update (1.3) is excellent.
You now have access to a multitude of fonts (54, to be precise), including various formatting options like bold, italic, etc. There is also the option to change opacity, brightness, saturation and hue.
The controls are flawless and work amazingly well. To move your text around, just drag anywhere on the photo; you don't have to place your finger on the actual text itself, which is handy if the text is very small.
Pinching to resize is just as easy to use. As with dragging, you simply pinch anywhere on your photo and the text will be resized accordingly. Brilliant.
Once you're done, you can email your photo from within the app or you can save it to your camera roll to use as you wish. Impression saves the photo in its original resolution, which is great. (I hate it when photo editing apps lower the resolution of edited photos!) Remember to check the Settings app, where you have the option of saving your photos in high quality JPEGs.
Overall, I really cannot fault Impression. It is very easy to use and contains all the functionality you could need. It does a simple job and does it extremely well.
Better than iWatermark!
To make this 5 star and for me to actually use it, it would need a way to fix the text in a particular place like a template. It saves the text you last typed when you close and re-open which is good but it doesn't remember the position. Extra features like font styling would just be icing on the cake!
