Good for what I use it for
I gave it 5 stars because I downloaded it to be able to upload uncropped images to Instagram and that’s what it allows me to do. Literally never used the editing options as I have other apps for that but it does the job I want it to. If you have the free version the ads are super annoying though!
Not as good as it used to be.
I originally downloaded this app to get square pictures to post on insta, which was fine - did its job. That was a few years ago.
Now, any misclick on any filter/background/colour prompts an annoying drop down to buy the full version, when they were previously in the free version. Okay, need to pay the bills - again, that’s fine.
The thing that makes this app now unusable is that no matter how many times I try to save an image it just won’t work. So I have to watch an advert to be able to save, yet no image ever saves. So I try again and I - of course - have to watch another advert. And it still won’t save the image to my phone. Maybe I’ll email the picture to myself? but oh no wait, it completely crashes the app.
The tactic here is clearly be so unusable on the free version that it forces people into paying.
Ok, but could be better
Some of the functionality, such as the blur type backgrounds look great but other features are lacking. For a start I can’t select an iPhone album to pick a photo from, it just shows my massive long list of recent photos which makes it hard to find the image I’m after. There’s also no custom aspect ratios, so I can’t create a photo that matches my iPhone widget size, I know it’s aimed at Instagram users but more flexibility would be useful. The back ground color picker also doesn’t seem to work for me, and there’s no easy easy to size an image to fit height or width or both etc, also no custom background color picker. Unfortunately, there’s better alternative apps for most requirements.
