Description

Intalink is a collaboration of bus and train operators with the Hertfordshire local authorities. This partnership promotes passenger transport and aims to provide the travelling public with the information needed to make travelling on public transport as easy as possible.

The Intalink Travel Information app helps you on your way when you travel by bus. This app provides real-time departure information for the majority of bus services in Hertfordshire and for all the bus stops in the county. The Intalink Travel Information app also provides for m-ticketing, allowing users to purchase a range of tickets on their phone prior to travel.

Getting bus times on your phone:
• Search for any bus stop using a name search.
• Selected from the returned list and the information about when buses are scheduled to arrive at the bus stop is shown. If real-time departure information is available then each bus will show the timetabled time and will also show the expected time of arrival to the bus stop, highlighting whether the bus is on time or delayed.
• Select a particular bus from the list and that will display the list of bus stops in the route which the bus runs along.
• A map will be shown on the home screen and this will show your location and the nearby bus stops around where you are is located.
• Select one of these bus stops on the map and view the buses that are upcoming for that bus stop.
• Favourite any bus stops selected.

Buying tickets:
• Browse the tickets available to purchase from the different operators.
• View all your purchased tickets in your ticket wallet.
• Tickets can be purchased using credit/debit card payments and depending on the bus operator Paypal or Apple Pay may be available.
• When browsing the ticket catalogue, you can add tickets to your basket, including multiples of a particular ticket or different tickets from the same provider.
• You can choose to gift a ticket after you have purchased it. The other user can claim a gifted ticket by downloading the Intalink Travel Information app and then clicking on the link that you sent to them. This will then create the gifted ticket on the other user’s device in an available status for them to activate when they are ready to.
• Use the ‘Buy Again’ option.

Good for M-ticket but live data et all needs work

I use the app for my monthly bus ticket and it's been great to have that option. I commiserate with another reviewer regarding about discounted tickets- I also found that there didn't seem to be any money off when that was advertised. That could have been clearer. The thing that has been annoying is the live arrival/ departure times for buses. It's been changed to where it only says the time when it is due - i.e. 16:58 or saying it is -1638m which I assume means it is that far away. I find both a bit useless in that regard and hope that that will be fixed.

Terrible and useless

This app is so bad that I even don't know where to start.

I downloaded the app, sign up (why do I need that?) and started adding favorite stations. First finding was that bus stations with multiple bus stops are not presented as one in the map and I need to mark favorite every single one I can travel from. So when I added the first one, the map moved back to my current location - I had to search bus station for every stop I wanted to add. This was followed by finding that WGC bus station is not in the map at all.

The list of favorite stops is another failure. If you add multiple stops from the same station it will use the same name for all of them with no option to at least rename them to see direction in the list.

Then I opened a favorite station and here comes the biggest failure. I can see only next 5 scheduled buses. No option to specify time or day I'm interested in. Also no real live updates with delays and cancellations!

The last failure I want to mention are tickets. What is Intalink about when I have to buy tickets for individual operators? If you can't do anything similar to PlusBus to have cross operator ticket, you are mostly useless intermediary.

Other disappointments are about app performance as it tends to get stuck with a spinner which requires app restart and about missed opportunities - no timetables for individual bus routes, no maps for individual bus routes, no journey planner.

Pointless

I downloaded the app after being encouraged by the potential discount for bus tickets for using it. I read the reviews but decided to download as I was only interested in the tickets and cost and not the timetable.

Once downloaded I discovered that there were only limited tickets available on my bus/route and if bought through the app it actually would cost me MORE than if I just continued to buy tickets/returns direct on the bus during the working week. The weekly ticket on the app for example costs more than direct tickets purchased daily. Therefore the advertised offer of up to 15% discount doesn't seem to exist for the bus/route I use. Disappointed there are not different options for types of tickets - ie 5 days min-fri or to include/exclude weekends. Pointless therefore I've now deleted the app.
