The Prophet VS's rareness and classic digital sound make it a mainstay for those who can find them. The sound is purely classic crisp digital sound that easily stands on its own, but at the same time is the perfect compliment to the sound of analog synthesizers. iProphet brings the crystaline vintage sound of four digital oscillators and allows sculpting them using a creamy and warm multimode filter.
iProphet comes with over 500 presets created by some of todays best sound designers. Use it in Tabletop to compose your music. You can morph the sound of the 4 oscillators using the joystick or the vector mode and the vector envelope. You can also swap presets between iProphet and Arturia's Prophet V synthesizer which allows you to work on the iPad and finish in the DAW of your choice.
iProphet is a Tabletop Ready app. The connect menu allows you to connect iProphet to the Retronyms Tabletop app, giving you an integration with a complete studio environment. Tabletop also features add-ons for more effects and instruments from other 3rd party companies.
iProphet supports Core MIDI, interapp-audio as well as Audiobus technologies for perfect integration. The use of the brands 'Prophet' and 'Sequencial Circuits' is done with permission of Dave Smith Instruments.

A Solid Synth
I actually like this synth. For me it works well, and I haven't experienced the issues that the other reviewer seems to be experiencing.
The only issue I do have is the lame "Tabletop Ready" tag at the top of the screen. Tabletop is dead. It was never really alive. Retronyms really need to let it go. It was meant to be a competitor for the mighty Audiobus, but the only developer that ever made apps for it was...er...Retronyms. Pretty embarrassing. Audiobus, on the other hand, was adopted by hundreds of developers and has changed the whole iOS music making scene.
Buggy and drains battery
Tends to get stuck in the background after being used in a track in a DAW, and doesn’t close when swiped away from the list of running apps, just stays running draining battery and inaccessible. Freshly charged iPad Pro 10.5 this morning, not used all day, came home to find battery at 73%, turns out to be Prophet stuck having used almost all of that. Have uninstalled for now. Shame, as I like its 80s goodness.
Unfinished & disappointing app
This produces the great sounds of the mighty Prophet VS, but this rendition has issues and missing items, including the all important velocity and aftertouch modulation. These really make this synth come alive and I cannot understand why Arturia have left them out on the IOS version, as they have implemented it properly on their VSTi. Instead, they have assigned accelerometer X & Y as sources in the modulation matrix. Why anyone would want to tilt their iPad while trying to playing the keyboard at the same time is a mystery to me!
Along with 2 show stopping bugs - hanging notes produced when sliding up/down the virtual keyboard while playing chords and all my presets I had been building up, magically disappearing, I am very disappointed and cannot really use or recommend this app in its present state. I really hope that Arturia can fix the problems and give it velocity & aftertouch capability and it will be a 5 star app - just like iSEM is.
I have noticed in the latest release, that Retronyms are now encouraging us to tell them about issues found. However, some time before this update I contacted both Retronyms and Arturia about these issues. Even though both of them responded that they are aware that there are problems with this app, unfortunately they have not been fixed.
