Description

iziCast is a versatile audio and video broadcaster.

You can broadcast audio from the internal microphone, external audio devices, audio files and Audiobus compatible apps to Icecast, Shoutcast and RTMP servers.
Live video from your camera can be broadcasted to any RTMP compatible service, such as YouTube, Twitch, Facebook and Telegram.
Any of the supported audio sources listed above can be combined with your live camera.

When using RTMP you can decide if you want to use one of your device cameras as video source or simply an image.
In case of an image it is up to you if you want to stream a single image, the album cover of the current track or just a black image to save bandwidth.
The image can be changed during the broadcast and you can even let iziCast write text like the current song on the image.

Besides that, iziCast comes with a lot more features. Have a look at the list below to find out what else iziCast can do.

Which external audio devices are supported?
Basically, every class-compliant audio device is supported. Manufacturers will usually indicate whether a device is class-compliant or not.
If you cannot find information about class compliance, a good rule of thumb is that an audio device is class-compliant if it does not need a driver to work on macOS.

So, if your device works on macOS without a driver, it will also work on your iPhone or iPad with iziCast.

List of successfully tested external audio devices:
(There is a very high chance that your device will work with iziCast even if it is not listed here)

• 1010music Bluebox

It does what you would expect and does it well

An intriguing app and somewhat niche, but flawless in execution from a short test.

I used the “camera kit” USB to lighting adaptor and a Yamaha AG03 mixer. The mixer however needed an external power source.

When plugged in, the iPhone immediately recognised the mixer and let me select it as an audio source.

Connected to a “local” (on the same LAN and WiFi connected to the phone) latency was about 4 seconds.

I can see an application for Internet radio stations who want to do a minimalist OB or Podcasters who want to do a live stream while recording.

The obvious limitations are that it lasts as long as the battery (thus possibly suggesting an iPad and/or a charging pad) and that while you can hear yourself (either via the mixer or looped on the phone) there isn’t an obvious method of getting cue audio (which would be useful for Internet radio).

All in all, good at what it does.

Developer Response ,

Hello Mark,

thanks for your extensive review! To reach maximum battery life I suggest you to use the AAC codec. AAC is hardware accelerated and therefore needs much less battery than the other codecs.

Best regards,
Daniel

Great intuitive app for webcasting

Great like the layout. Can take audio feeds from a selection of sources i.e. either straight from your phone’s mics, or from an attached mic like Sennheiser’s AMBEO headset when connected. Can specify sample rate, but rate, channels (mono or stereo), and Codec type (mp3, ACC, ogg or FLAC). One can even record their webcast direct to their phone, which is great if you want to upload recordings elsewhere later.

I use this for the Locusonus webcast site. While they have their own app for streaming to their their soundmap (which transmits the location your webcasting from), this app dose not. Would be good see that feature included (if possible).

Great app!

After the latest update and some direct feedback with the developer, this is a 5 star app.
Daniel was very helpful in getting the update out quickly which solved the issues I was having.
Simple, easy, and now very stable!

Developer Response ,

Hello Chojin137,

I am sorry for your issues you are having lately. iziCast can be used in many different ways. To find the cause of your issues it would therefore help me very much if you tell me more about how you use iziCast and under which circumstances the app crashes. Please send me a mail to iziCast@danielnoethen.de

Best regards,
Daniel
