Description

1) Constantly nagging and arguing with your child?
2) Is your child not motivated to complete their daily tasks?
3) Does your child struggle to remember and stick to their daily routine?

If you answered "YES" to at least one of these, then Joon is exactly what you are looking for!

Recommended by Child Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, Pediatricians, and Special Education Teachers, Joon is the future of motivating neurodivergent children. Using a child-friendly video game (for ages 6-12), Joon helps motivate your child to focus and stay on top of their daily routine, tasks, & habits.

**JOON’S GOAL**

Help motivate your child with ADHD, ASD, ODD, General Anxiety, or Depression to focus and complete their daily tasks while learning basic responsibility and independence. Not only does Joon make it extremely easy to motivate kids to do important tasks using a video game, but it also teaches them valuable life skills that they won’t be able to learn in school. We’ve helped over two hundred thousand families complete more than 1M+ tasks, so why can't we help you?

**HOW IT WORKS**

Assign tasks as "Quests", then the video game does the rest.

1) Create a few tasks that your child struggles with the most (such as brushing their teeth, getting ready for school, etc.)

2) Your child chooses a virtual pet (called a Doter) to feed, wash, and grow. In order to take care of their pet and play the Joon video game, they must first complete the tasks you've assigned them.

3) Once completed, you will get a notification to review and approve/reject your child's completed tasks. If approved, your child will receive coins to use to care for their pet and unlock different parts of the video game!

4) As your child completes more and more tasks, they will develop habits and improve their daily routine - all because they want to play a video game!

**THE PARENTING TOOL YOU NEED**

+ We make it easy to manage your child’s tasks and add in your existing routine.

+ We'll do the reminding to help your child stick to their routine. No more nagging from your end.

+ Your child will stay motivated to do the tasks assigned to them. In fact, 90% of kids on Joon complete all tasks assigned.

+ Choose from a large list of research-backed activities to help your child build important life skills that teach independence.

Joon is only a year old and already has the attention of press, parenting publications, and parenting experts. To see the complete list, visit our website here: https://joonapp.io

**HOW TO GET STARTED**

1) Install Joon on your device, create your family, and select a few beginning tasks you’d like your child to work on.

2) Help your child set up their account so they can see the tasks that you’ve assigned them. You can have them download Joon on their own device or share you phone.

3) Once your child completes their tasks, you can review and approve them to make sure they were completed correctly.

4) Once approved, your children receive coins and experience points that let them feed, level up, buy things, and progress in the game with their virtual pet. As your child continues to progress in the game, they actually progress in real life too!

5) Keep adding quests (and we’ll recommend you new ones too) to help your children develop good habits! Your children cannot grow on their own. Make sure to stay involved in the process and keep assigning new quests as needed to allow your children to continue helping, learning, growing, and progressing in the game.

Total game changer 🙌🏻

My children are now able to keep on task, are motivated and most importantly proud of themselves daily! They do more to help the household than ever before, and actually enjoy doing it!! I love the kindness & relationship builder tasks too. They’ve learnt responsibility, and being able to personalise rewards has been brilliant. School mornings are totally different these days which I am so so grateful for.
My boys are loving the game and we couldn’t imagine our routines without it now.
Whenever there has been a small glitch or feedback was requested, it was fixed and met with positive changes.
Worth every Penny in my opinion

Pseudo-science.

The unsuspecting parent’s nightmare: an app that promises to be ‘the only parenting app you’ll ever need’, is crammed full of jargon and ‘frameworks’ (which focus on conventional child development and pop psychology but conveniently nothing on gamification and tech engagement) and showcase a smiling team of ‘experts’ with plenty of letters after their names.

Despite citing esteemed academics such as ‘Chan & Zuckerberg’ 🤨 the reality is that there is precious little, if any, evidence from clinical trials that proves that gamification has any ability whatsoever to build long term character strengths or healthy children. There’s much more evidence of the damaging and addictive effects of tech, screens and notifications on child development, in particular contributing to attention and social skills deficits, plus nothing to suggest that gratification-based apps cultivate a long term propensity to develop skills and expertise.

Much as we’d love it to be so, you can’t gamify your children to healthy development. Put away the emperor’s new clothes, turn off notifications and trust that you don’t need Meta’s snake oil to be enough for your kids.

Hi perk_i80,

We are sorry to hear you're feeling this way and we appreciate the constructive feedback. We certainly don't want our site to come off that way. Great point on the articles - we will look into adding gamification and tech engagement articles to our site. From our research on gamification, there have been a lot of studies on its' effectiveness which we have been referencing. See two here:

https://slejournal.springeropen.com/articles/10.1186/s40561-019-0098-x https://files.eric.ed.gov/fulltext/EJ1257523.pdf

If you have other studies which show the ineffectiveness, we'd love to read them for our own knowledge and use it to make Joon better. Again, we are sorry you feel this way about Joon. If there's anything else we can do, please don't hesitate to reach out at contact@joonapp.io.

Best,
The Joon Team

Demand Avoidance

My daughter has ADHD and Autism and we think PDA.
Any direct request throws her. Causes escalation and meltdown or shutdown.
Tonight she was proudly showing me how she had ticked so many tasks off and added some kindness ones herself.
It’s made today so much calmer, she got ready following everything on the app. I love that you can add your own things so she’s got every single step laid out for her.
The fact that the app is reminding her and her pet is there to play with has depersonalised the demands I think. Can’t wait to see if this continues. Been at it a few days now.

Developer Response ,

Hi Liz Nicholas,

Thanks for the awesome review -- we're glad to hear that Joon works well with you and your daughter! We think that autonomy is a huge factor in being motivated to complete tasks, and the fact that kids are choosing to do Quests to care for their Doters helps create that autonomy. We hope that the benefits of Joon continue improving her attitude at home!

If there's anything we can do to make the experience better, please don't hesitate to reach out to contact@joonapp.io

Best,
The Joon Team
