Try before you buy and bring any Karndean Designflooring to life in your space with our brand new iPad and iPhone app.
Using cutting edge Augmented Reality technology, this clever app allows you to place any selected Karndean flooring in your home in real time.
Easy to use, you can check out what light wood planks look like in your kitchen and then swap it out for a light stone look tile, or maybe even parquet. You can also rotate the floor to test out different laying angles.
With access to our full catalogue via the app’s innovative Touch Selector, you really can view any Karndean floor you want, whenever you want.
Plus you can take snapshots as you go along, edit out walls and furniture and then save to compare. And because we understand choosing a new floor is a huge decision, we’ve made it easy to email your creations to your friends and family to get those all-important second opinions. You can even post your favourites on Facebook and Twitter directly from the app. Getting feedback has never been simpler!
Updated to include our latest products and support for the iPhone X type devices.
Ratings and Reviews
This is a terrible app that just doesn’t work, why on earth there isn’t an option to upload a picture of your room, adjust the size of the floor to where it should actually be and overlay different floor coverings (how simple would that be...?!) I just don’t know. What they have managed to achieve is an app that actually frustrates the hell out of you, puts the floor covering in mid air and doesn’t allow you to make any adjustments to its position but just resize it (whose room is a simple square?) or rotate it (because that’s more important than, say finding the actual floor rather than the walls). My toddler walked into shot at one point and ended up taking the floor with her on her head as she walked out of shot. How on earth this ever got more than a 1 star review from anyone I’ll never know!
This app is ridiculously bad - it just doesn’t work!
Firstly, the camera seems to be zoomed in a bit, so it’s impossible to capture an image of the whole room.
But worst of all, the floor it places in the room is *always* 1-3 feet above where it should be, and there’s no way to move it. You can rotate and scale the floor, but it always ends up too big or small for the actual floor - you can’t recentre/reposition it.
I’ve tried the app on a phone and tablet, on carpeted floors, wooden floors, unfinished chipboard floors and even existing Karndean floors, and across different lighting conditions - always the same result.
This app should have been really useful, but is let down by a terrible implementation of a good idea - so bad, it’s rendered useless.
I can’t think of a worse app - it is hopeless. Has anyone ever thought of dragging someone in off the street and challenging them to try and use it? It’s no use getting developers to test these things - they have to be usable by the average person. Just go and pick anyone and challenge them to use the app using the basic instructions provided - then you’ll see what I mean.
