KEF Control 4+

The app is the icing on the cake of the worst purchase I have made in my life. The controls are inconsistent, so I frequently have to close and reopen the app to make a simple command work. This happens all the time, because the connection, through any given channel, is constantly cutting out, inexplicably. Today I tried to switch to aux input, and 20 minutes later here I am, writing a review because the speakers simply refuse to respond to the app’s command. (The app itself seems to think it is working; aux is selected, but the speakers are still on a white light for wi-fi and nothing I do can change that.) I have sent so many unanswered emails to KEF since making the purchase that I can only imagine they’ve given up on this infuriating product altogether.

My speakers arrived today. Unboxed, plugged in, downloaded this app and was streaming music via my iPad within about 5 minutes at most. The speakers are superb and the app, while the interface could certainly be improved, offers control of all speaker operations and performed without a hitch.

I have no connection to Apple or KEF, but having read such a pile of negative reviews I was wondering what I’d let myself in for and the nightmare that I would experience. In my case, I’m sitting here with a big grin on my face and enjoying wonderful music. The app has not missed a beat and the LSX speakers have played perfectly from about midday when they arrived, to almost 11 tonight. I’m using AirPlay 2 with Apple Music, have not needed the KEF Stream app or remote control so cannot comment on their operation.

Absolutely dreadful. The speakers themselves are ok for small units but the whole point of LSXs is the wireless plying which is the worst I’ve encountered on any device. Stops playing for no reason, music breaks up and crackles then ok again, then stops altogether. Tried Bluetooth connection and volume inexplicably low. Also takes way too long for speakers to switch onto network when you’re trying to play some music. What HiFi should be ashamed giving these things 5 stars. Someone is being paid off by KEF.
