Description

Even better than killer sudoku on paper!

Killer sudoku is a popular variation on classic sudoku puzzles. To complete a puzzle you must fill the board with numbers that obey traditional sudoku rules AND make each outlined region sum to a specific value. The grid begins blank, but these rules give you all the information you need to solve the puzzle!

Solving a killer sudoku puzzle requires a lot of notes, so we worked hard to make the note entry features in this app perfect. A dedicated note keypad and the ability to select multiple squares makes entering notes fast. You can even make combination lists that float above the puzzle and can be rearranged on the screen! Cross out combinations from your lists as you rule them out.

Our interface is so good, you may prefer it to doing puzzles on paper.

Features:
- Dual keypads -- no tedious toggling between note and answer mode
- Multi-square note entry -- a huge timesaver
- Handy combination lists -- can be rearranged on the screen for easy comparison
- Quick sum button -- add all selected sum labels instantly
- Quick combination list button -- list all combinations fast by dragging over the desired region
- Built-in mini calculator -- do even long sums easily
- Undo & redo buttons -- step back through your changes to fix a mistake
- Mistake highlighting option -- don't let mistyped entries from set you back
- Auto note option -- automatically remove trivially eliminated notes when you enter an answer
- Two color schemes -- a neutral newspaper color scheme and a rainbow color scheme
- Puzzle gallery -- scroll through puzzles and see your progress instantly
- Comes with 10 free puzzles for testing, and over 3,000 puzzles available for purchase

We made this app free so that you can test it without having to buy anything. It comes with ten free killer sudoku puzzles--two puzzles in each of the five levels. There are also more than three thousand puzzles available to purchase, but the ten free puzzles might just keep you busy for a long time :)

All our killer sudoku puzzles have a unique solution.

Best ever

I’ve tried many killer sudoku apps over the years. All of then had issues of one sort or another. This one absolutely nails it. No fiddling about between pencil on and pencil off. Lots of helpful extra features, some of which I’ve found nowhere else. You can choose to make it exactly like playing on paper, ie the pencil marks don’t automatically disappear from row column and square when you put in an answer. Or you can decide to be lazy about that and let the app do it. There is a really good gradation of difficulty so you can choose the level you want and gradually work up to the harder ones. Not many free ones but the bundles are pretty cheap to buy so it’s not a problem. I got over 1600 puzzles over the whole range of difficulty for under a fiver, and that gets rid of the ads too. A bargain, and they’ll last me for years even if I do 3 or 4 a day (which I do). You can even clear completed puzzles and do them again, which is great for helping you to improve.
I’ve tried some of the other games from this developer and while not all of them are my cup of tea I have really taken to a couple of them. Well worth exploring.

Brilliant App - Definitely Recommended

Still working through the 10 games provided. Two in each category: Easy, Medium, Hard, Extra Hard and Impossible. As previously pointed out the Easy, Medium and Hard are variable in difficulty, sometimes the easier taking longer than the hard, probably depending on the approach you take (these take me about an hour, but maybe I'm slow). The extra hard and impossible are the most enjoyable, the latter taking me up to three and a half hours to solve. Killer sudoku seems easier to me since no guessing or trial or error seems needed. The interface is good. The app could be improved if the "notes" keypad could record in two colours (for "can go" and "must go"). Will buy more games as needed and comment again. Well recommended.

Brilliant puzzles

I’ve now done over a thousand of these puzzles and I still get a real buzz from completing one, especially if it’s been really difficult to solve. The app allows you to put in all the possible numbers that could be in each square which is really useful and something I’ve not found on other apps. There is also an undo option for when I e gone wrong.

There are five levels of difficulty. The easy ones are fairly straightforward but after that they all require a degree of probing to find ways into them. Some are real corkers that may take over an hour before you find the way in. Others look deceptively simple until you get half way through and then you come to a halt.
