The Land Rover InControl Remote Smartphone App allows you to remain in touch with your Land Rover, making life easier when it really counts. Use the app to remotely:
• Prepare for a trip by checking the fuel level, range and dashboard alerts
• Locate your vehicle on a map and get walking directions back to it
• Check if you left any windows or doors open
• Download your journey information to assist in claiming business expenses
• In the event of a breakdown, request Optimised Land Rover Assistance
For vehicles with InControl Remote Premium the following additional features are available:
• Check on your vehicle security status and lock/unlock your vehicle if required
• Cool or heat your vehicle to the desired temperature prior to your journey.(Availability and function depending on vehicle capability)
• Reset your vehicle’s alarm if it has accidentally triggered
• Locate your vehicle in a crowded car park with the ‘beep and flash’ functionality
Download the App and log in using your Land Rover InControl username and password. This App requires one of the following packages fitted to the vehicle:
• InControl Protect
• InControl Remote
• InControl Remote Premium

Should be so much better
For an App that is fundamentally very simple, this is remarkable poor. Quite extraordinary that over the three years I’ve owned the car, the reliability has not been improved. In fact it’s so unreliable, I’ve given up using it.
Yes it will tell you where your vehicle is parked. And yes it will log you stop/starts etc. But as for knowing what is locked, whether the alarm is set or if the boot is open, it genuinely doesn’t have a clue! Sometimes it gets it right but more often than not it doesn’t. It’s worrying to start with when you are told your vehicle, parked hundreds of miles away from you is insecure. Then when you return to it, it’s locked and alarmed.
I’m afraid it’s little more than a sales gimmick and not something LR are that bothered about.
Certainly not worth paying the £30 per year for it once out of warranty.
Despite being a very technical person, after reading a lot of negative reviews on here I was a bit concerned about whether the App would allow me to connect and interact with my new vehicle (2018 RRS AB + lots of Options). After installing the App, I’ve had absolutely no issues at all. I’ve not had to reinstall it, and it always connects. Whether it’s over WiFi or mobile network, all features work without issue for me. The Remote Start feature is great, as I can set the temperature before using the vehicle, and the Vehicle Health Report is also very handy too. Luckily I’ve not had to try out the security features yet, and hopefully I won’t have to, but the Location and Security Status allow me to keep an eye on things.
It’s a basic App, but it does exactly what’s described. I really don’t understand why there’s so many negative reviews. Maybe I’m just one of the lucky ones, or maybe it’s not the App that’s the problem ...
We own a 2017 Discover 5. I have used this app EVERY day since purchase. Now out of original warranty and have paid for annual ‘Incontrol’ subscription. Daily look at trips/ mileage and download for expenses, regularly use Pre-start climate control (winter & summer) remotely open and lock doors, windows etc. Drop seats for dog before arriving back from walk. There isn’t a single element of this app that I don’t use - weekly and that’s for the past 4 years. I personally have never had an issue or failure. Extremely useful app. Could it be improved? It would be helpful for my wife to ‘share’ the account to use the app on her iPhone when she is away using the vehicle much like family sharing ‘find my’ on a iPhone. Otherwise, the app provides ample information and control from a ‘phone in your pocket’. I personally do not recognise most of the problems listed in some of the comments. This app works fine - excellent even.
