Larder 4+

Good Larder App

Thought we would pay actual real money for this app. The idea is great and with a bit more polish this is a five star app for people like us who want to buy in bulk and rotate their food. Half the battle is knowing what you’ve got in at any one time. This app helps you with that but the implementation needs to be sought through just a little bit further.

I like the scan facility, but like any good database it should do better at offering results. Look at things like Slimming apps which interrogate databases and give you all the information about the food. Maybe that’s possible? We’re gonna persevere with this and I hope the developer does as well!

Also it would be brilliant if it was cloud based so that the database you start to compile transfers two different devices or more than one person can imput information.

Half a great idea

It’s really good how you can scan items and give them a quantity / best before end date but there’s no ability to knock these items off when used (that I can easily find), thus I’ll be getting notifications for items I could have used a long time ago.

I thought this would be a good inventory app to show items, quantities and expiry dates to help keep the store cupboard up to date.. you’ve got all this info so would be a useful next step..

Hi, thank you for taking the time to download and review Larder. If you swipe to the left on an item in your Larder, you should see the buttons to use all, one or throw away an item. Hopefully this helps! If you have any more questions please navigate to the Settings > Help & Support section which should hopefully help you.

Room for improvement

I usually write all the sell by dates on paper so loved the idea of this app and the notifications!

It’s just missing some things such as being able to edit dates when the item has been added to larder (such as if I put the best before when I get an item, but then open it and need to change the date as it now needs using within 2 weeks etc).
And whilst trying to just work out how to use the app I accidentally deleted an item in larder and there was no way to restore or see what I had deleted.
Sometimes the scanner gets the item wrong, but that’s easy to change. Would be good to be able to report the error though.

Hi, thank you for the constructive feedback, and i'm glad the idea wasn't just useful for me. More flexibility with items already added to your Larder is on the roadmap for the next major release, so keep your eyes peeled!
