Best language speaking app

I’ve been trying to find resources to practice speaking in French and Pingo is the best app I’ve found. The AI is great it can pick up what you’re saying even when your pronunciation isn’t perfect! Can’t wait for it to only get more advanced.

Crashes all the time, good for survival basics, can’t handle “advanced”learners

I’ve been using this for a few days now to learn Korean and the pre-made lessons are painfully simple, even the advanced ones, so whenever you ask it to do anything more complex it just takes you round in circles and crashes. At one point it just started playing music out of nowhere?! The custom/free conversation aspects of the app are fine, gives you the chance to have a conversation partner, but it just talks too much. I also think one thing that is majorly lacking is the feedback. After each lesson it would be great if it could give you feedback on your conversation, pronunciation, grammar and vocabulary accuracy etc so that you could actually make conscious improvements instead of just speaking into the void. Also, there is a recurring problem where it will ask you to say something, write something else on the screen, and when you speak what is written, it’ll tell you that what you said is wrong, so there’s no consistency in the content provided. Also, from my experience learning, some of these examples are just not very natural and a bit too literal (assuming this is an AI flaw), so if you do decide to learn with this, you may have to undo so bad habits learned in the future.

You're absolutely right that the current pre-made lessons can feel too simple, especially for advanced learners. Right now, they’re geared more toward beginners, with the roleplay mode designed for all levels. We’re actively working on improving the lesson system so it can adapt better to different skill levels and learning goals.

As for the strange bugs — like random music or mismatches between the prompt and response — those are definitely issues, and we're working on fixes as voice AI models become more stable and reliable.

We also hear you loud and clear on post-lesson feedback. We're building features to bring pronunciation, grammar, and vocabulary insights into Tutor Mode — expanding beyond what already exists for conversations — so Pingo can track your progress and provide more meaningful coaching, not just conversation.

And yes, we’re continuing to improve the AI’s understanding of real-life, conversational Korean. While many learners love the realism and how Pingo sounds like a native speaker, it may still make occasional mistakes.

Pretty good, but AI has some untapped potential

Overall I enjoy using the app. I find it more engaging to have the feeling of a ‘teacher’ rather than a gamified, one-sided language learning platform. However, with the use of AI there are some things I wish the app would be a little smarter with.

1. The app isn’t great at recalling what words and phrases I’ve learned from one lesson to the next. Sometimes I’m taught a word in a custom lesson and then I’m taught it in a different lesson as if I’ve never come across it before. It would be great if the app could gauge your progress a little better, based on what you’ve learned, what you should be able to remember and how to build on these lessons after lesson.

2. Also, once a lesson has been completed, it would be nice if it could be ticked off in some way to know what material has been covered and where to pick up from when you next open the app.

3. When the lesson time isn’t extended, the current sentence that is being practiced should be allowed to come to an end rather than cutting it off abruptly. It would be nice if there was still a round up to the lesson rather than an immediate termination.

4. There is an option for “saved vocab” but it would be great if this maybe had a few more categories like “saved grammar rules” or “saved sentences” that distinguishes full sentences from new words.

Overall, the app has great potential. I just find myself wanting certain capabilities of the app that aren’t integrated yet.
