Description

Become a rookie boxing manager with something to prove, working to establish a stable of talented fighters to take on the world – in LEATHER®: Tactical Boxing Management.

Recruit promising young amateurs, established professionals or retired veterans, challenge favourable opponents, and train your fighters for upcoming bouts. Fights are won or lost depending on the strategy and tactics you devise, so it’s crucial to analyse both your combatant and your opponent to create the correct fight plan. Winning bouts will move your boxer up their respective weight division rankings, to eventually challenge for the world championship belt itself.

But the boxing world is a slippery one; losing bouts will delay your ability to challenge others, ruining your momentum and allowing other promising stars to challenge your position. Suffering injuries during bouts will lower your boxer’s subsequent fitness, meaning they will be less effective in the next bout unless given time to rest and recuperate. Boxers you seek revenge upon might shift weight division, foiling your plans for immediate payback.

Different boxers peak at different stages during their careers, and as time passes your boxers will age and their abilities will wane. Young, fresh-faced opponents will rise through the ranks to challenge your dominance, and wily old campaigners will battle on long passed their best, eager to show they’ve still got it.

The path to glory is not always clear, and it is up to you how you form your fighters’ careers. Do you ambitiously rush them up through the rankings – challenging as high as you can each time, or do you favour a steadier approach – building your boxer’s skills over more contests? Do you favour the breathless punch exchanges of the lower weight divisions, or the thudding power of the heavier ones? Will you dominate in one weight division for a decade, or will you shift your fighters from division to division, capturing as many titles as possible before their skills begin to wane? Do you allow your recruits to retire undefeated at the peak of their powers, or do you keep ushering them on for one more tilt at the big time, long after their abilities have deteriorated?

The choice is yours; there’s no end-game in LEATHER®. The only definition of glory is your own.

Class game

Best boxing game out there. Only things I’d say to add is firstly improve the quality of amateurs coming through from other gyms. Any amateurs that are signed by other gyms never improve very much. Also I think you should be able to request for a vacant title to be on the line when challenging for a bout. I organised a fight between two fighters but wanted a vacant title to be on the line but it wasn’t put on there so I wouldn’t of organised the bout if the title wasn’t on the line. There should be an option to request for a vacant title to be on the line when challenging an opponent that can be accepted or rejected by the governing body.

Thanks for the review. If you're finding the cpu gyms are a bit ineffective and need to tune the difficulty a bit, then head to the Options screen and increase the CPU gym level, which will make them more effective when recruiting and assigning support staff (eg. they'll assign coaches to their boxers more appropriately, which in turn will improve their boxers more).

Two problems:

With the new update. I noticed that fighters get an undisputed champion accolade, however, I looked at their career and they have not even fought in that weight division.

Another problem that still exists after years is the g.o.a.t by weight division where fighters are ranked #1 in a division that they have never fought, barely fought. I remember once a fighter who only fought in 1 weight class had a career score different than that of the goat by division.

(Overall this a problem because you can’t accurately see the rankings on work done in each weight division)

It does do already, to a certain extent, though only when they return to the corner and there's little chance of them mustering enough health to put up a decent fight for the round that's about to follow.

Best boxing manager sim

This is easily the best boxing manager sim on the App Store. Finally one that actually lets you choose your strategy, had fight injuries and a variety of different fighting styles to choose from. It’d be nice to see a few additions in a future update. Maybe the ability to gain sponsors for your fighters, the ability to upgrade your gym and also random events that you have to make decisions over

Developer Response ,

Thanks for the review. I have a long to-do list of stuff I'm working on; I'm bringing new stuff to the game constantly, so it's onwards and upwards from here, thanks for the support.
