Great idea to put instructions onto app but some are too simplistic and some far too complicated. Would like to see examples of differing models running so I knew what I was aiming at. Also would like to see as I would like to build other models without taking Vernie to pieces - see the action then know what I am buying the kit to build - for my 8 year old Godson of course!

Initially excellent

So this kit is fantastic and my son (7) loved it for about 30 minutes. He built the initial set and had fun instructing it to move round the kitchen floor.

We then attempted one of the main builds. We started it but accidentally closed the app after a few minutes and went back in but the build instructions were nowhere to be found - the app assumed we'd build it and took us to the programming step. We could not find any way in the app to return to the build instructions.

In addition, the app then started reporting that the batteries were low. They were new and only put in 30 minutes ago!

In the end we had to search the internet for a PDF with the build instructions to finish building the robot which is a real shame.

The other real annoyance is that you have to sync the robot before building. This is weird as you don't interact with the robot while building it, only at the end.

I get LEGO want an interactive experience but please make the build instructions readily available for kids that want to build the robots at any time - if you hide the build instructions you'll have disappointed kids.

Developer Response ,

I am sorry that the digital and physical experience are not quite matching up currently. We are constantly working on updates to help fix issues and bugs like the "low battery" alert.

The good news is that the more you and your child play with the app the more fluent and confident you will become. You will hopefully be excited to hear that the building instructions are available within the app as well. If you are in programming mode there is an image of two stacked bricks on the top of the screen. If you tap this icon the building instructions will pop back up.

I hope this helps you enjoy the experience more.

Sound doesn’t work

This was a birthday present for our 5 year old. So disappointing that the audio stops working. When you go onto the building step that requires the iPhone (iPhone 11 Pro) microphone it will switch to the earpiece speaker rather than the external speaker & there is no way to resolve this. Phoning Lego results in them telling you to uninstall & re-install app, making sure it’s the most up to date version & phone is updated. Makes no difference. It is an issue with the app itself which Lego needs to resolve - such a shame that Lego Boost products are widely available but are not adequately supported by the app - needs fixing ASAP please!

Developer Response ,

Hmm... 🤔 That doesn't sound like the best experience. Have you tried closing the LEGO® BOOST App and rebooting it? 📲 This won't cause you to lose any progress and should help work around this sound issue for right now. We'll also be sure to pass this along to our developers to look into as soon as possible! 🙂🔎 -Morgan, LEGO® Customer Service
