lichess • Online Chess 4+

This is a very good app and I use it daily. However recently I’ve been having problems with it from it deleting my messages to not recognising when I’ve made a move. The other night I had made my first move as white when my opponent rang me and said he was way for me to move. When I went on the website it wasn’t showing the move I had made on the app? The other problem is I can send a message via the app but when I go back in a while later it’s gone. The only reliable way to stop this is to message via the web version as that seems to update the app but it doesn’t seem to work the other way round?
This has been happening since last week please fix and I’ll give it 5 stars again.

Oct 19: Great app and grateful it’s free, as far as the chess and what’s on offer, this should be epic. It is, but it’s become really buggy after the last update?! I run iPhone X, keeps showing loads of notifications and rematches keep getting lost.... is there a patch for this soon? Was fine before the update on my device now it’s buggy!?!

Dec 19 UPDATE: big problems on IOS. Buggy as hell. Just lost my rag with it. Won’t let me take moves and says I have loads of moves to take.

Mar 20 Update..... tried to load again after the update. Now it just goes blank if I click on home and won’t load games up and cannot accept games...... 🤦🏻‍♂️🤷🏻🤦🏻‍♂️🤷🏻

11 Apr 20 update: same problem as above a month on. dont know if this is IOS, tried on 2 different iphones and no joy. cant select next game, cant go home (screen goes blank) cant do ANYTHING. it lets me take the next move in a game but i can only now do correspondence with 1 game, and even then it takes around 24 hours to register my move. great...............

17 Apr 20 Update: same problems as above a week later. still not fixed

18 Apr 20: logged in on a computer to see if there was any solutions. just by logging in on a computer i found i had a pending game which i think is what was preventing the app from working. back up and running for now.

Just like the website, lichess sets the standard for free chess content. The features and functions that are available with this app are breathtaking. Not only is the gameplay and range of time controls first-class, but the full range of chess variants are also available. Personally I prefer to use the app to train, and the puzzles allow you to do this without limit - unlike other sites that require a paid subscription. Practising tactics is one of the best ways to improve so I really encourage people to take advantage of this free service. As if this wasn't enough, you can even analyse the puzzles afterwards using the computer analysis! Incredible functionality for a free app that puts others to shame even in their premium versions. It's a no-brainer. Download it now!!
