Ratings and Reviews
Simple and absorbing
I agree with all the other reviews: Linelight is brilliantly simple, intuitive and completely absorbing - and the soundtrack adds to the pleasure. Your goal is to move a white light along a line and overcome obstacles to collect yellow and green diamonds (the green diamonds are located on hidden routes). I loved the evolution of the accompanying coloured light, which is sometimes your enemy, sometimes your friend and sometimes both.
I played it on iPad and the movement was mostly smooth, although I did have some difficulties with the ‘recording’ feature in that the red light that copies your movements was often too short-lived to complete the recorded activity. Occasionally it would last longer but I couldn’t work out why - charging it for longer seemed to produce the shortest life. That minor frustration aside, this game is a delight.
Something different
Getting a design to appear so minimal & still deliver engrossing gameplay is extremely difficult in practice but Linelight shows how well it can work when you get it right. The concept is original & inventive and allows the player to go at their own pace. The graphics & soundtrack are peculiarly calming making this a real coffee break stress buster. All in all a little masterpiece & well deserving of the award.
Great game, but limited levels
I got this game a couple of days ago, and think it is great. The game play and problem solving aspects are spot on.
However, it is very limited. I have already achieved every achievement and finished all the levels (including the a+ level), and really thought that there would have been many more than this considering this is a paid for game. There is so much potential for more, that I am sure the developer is working on it.
Note to the developer: whilst it is sweet to have <3 in the credits (twice), somehow it seems to undermine the sophistication of your game. But that is genuinely the only nit-picking I can do - everything else is perfect!
