London - A City Through Time
This is what the iPad is for; this is what tourists all over the world have been waiting for. To have in the palm of your hand the history of the city you're visiting, to have visual tasters of everything you want to see, to have directions as to how to get there and to have in-depth explanations of the social conditions in which they were created - this is the key to a totally different and infinitely more satisfying tourist experience than anything you have had before. Please, Heuristic Media, I want an app like this for every one of the great cities of the world that I want to visit. It's an absolutely beautiful production and a must have app for anyone visiting this great city in its Olympic year. Just brilliant, thank you!
Worth buying an iPad for!
This is a fantastic app, and worth every penny of what first appears to be a relatively high price. Infact after first exploring it for just a few minutes you soon forget the price that you've paid. One could literally get lost for hours travelling through time, exploring the years, places, people, and items that this app includes. Along with fantastic video, audio, and imagery it's a great documentary piece all about this great city. Well done to the developers of this app for providing iPad users with a great piece of work, and I'm sure my kids are going to enjoy learning through this app also.
A Memory Hog
I have removed this expensive app from my iPad because its enormous memory requirement prevented me from doing other things more important to me. The initial download is only part of it. In use it downloads (if your internet connection is active) further large images and there seems to be no way to delete these or stop them from being saved permanently. Like many electronic guides it can get irritating because its pre-programmed audio inevitably keeps playing the same bit every time you open the app or go to the same point within it. Although it contains information such as one might get from a half-decent tourist guide (but without the opportunity to ask one's own questions) the basis is a set of high res scans of images. Is that really what you want from an iPad app?
