London Dog Walkers 4+

I couldn’t even sign up with my gmail. I don’t know whats the issue

I live in London and there are a couple of other apps whose stated purpose is to connect dog owners with people who can give their dogs some extra care and walks. One of these is BorrowMyDoggy (‘BMD’) which at the time of writing I’ve used for over a year. That app demands a membership fee whereas this is free; however this app has a very short list of people in the whole of the London area, none of whom are showing as rated and all of whom are charging an hourly rate for their services, whereas on BMD there’s no such charge. Furthermore there’s no apparent thought to the wider legal and practical details that can matter, such as third party emergency veterinary insurance or articles to make help ensure such arrangements go smoothly for owner, walker and the dog (all things BMD provides). There is a web store on this app to buy dog related care items but it says it’s the 2017 collection and I’m writing this in Autumn 2022. I don’t know whether it works or where the items come from / who the legal vendor is as when I tried choosing an item the basket screen showed an error ‘404’ which seemed to be fatal. Other bugs occurred when clicking to sorting or filtering the list of dog walkers - these booted me out of the app altogether. I note the last time the app was updated per the App Store info was 5 years ago. There seems to be no option that I could see to cancel your account nor any information about data protection/privacy or indeed the legal basis on which these agreements would be made. I haven’t searched the internet for more info; this experience is enough to conclude this app, whilst having some appeal as a concept, has either not been implemented or maintained adequately and the overall commercial and legal basis is unclear and unnecessarily risky. There are better current options such as BMD. I note there’s another app in addition to this one that uses the word professional in its description yet if anything looks even more suspicious. I wonder whether the App Store has considered setting some sort of review process for removing apps that appear to be not working and which are a waste of everyone’s time. As time goes on I seem to encounter more and more apps that seem to be at best out of service and at worst never should have been made available. I suppose that the App Store would fall back on “caveat emptor” yet the state of the App Store is such as to significantly detract from Apple’s normal operating approach which I would say was to offer a tidy well maintained and reliable ecosystem. This app in my view is one of many that belongs in the recycling bin.
