So much promise
This could be such a great app if only some thought was given to it and time spent fixing the bugs. I try to use it on both my iPad and iPhone XS but find it so frustrating. These are the issues that I’ve come across:
1. The app regularly crashes when trying to browse a magazine to see if it contains a particular destination.
2. Downloads seem to stall regularly.
3. The navigation and bookmark buttons are only half visible on iPhone XS making it hard to navigate back to the main screen or to bookmark a page.
4. No search facility. Wouldn’t make sense to be able to search through all issues rather than open each one for a destination, especially when you consider the above points.
All in all I find this app really quite frustrating which, when you consider that I’m paying for a subscription, isn’t really acceptable.
No offline reading, seriously!
Bought a subscription and even downloaded a few issues to read prior to being on a long haul flight and to read while being pretty remote in Africa. Well, you try start the app while in flight mode or don’t have a data connection and it just sits there in the loading screen until you realise it just ain’t happening.
Unbelievable, the only magazine app I’ve ever seen that does this. Will be looking for a refund on subscription
The app used to be really good but is now absolutely horrific. I’m now paying for a subscription with content that I can access 50% of the time due to crashes and instability. I can sometimes read a couple of pages before the app crashes other times I can’t even download new content or access content even with multiple attempts. Lonely Planet should be ashamed that they are offering this app to their paying customers.
